The game is empty

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 6:59 am

i agree the game does feel empty of mobs, no random caves or catacombs to visit or barely....

still its a good game but i miss morrowind and its ash vampires and ghouls, it had a more epic feel imo.....

You either haven't played Morrowind or Skyrim... because there's a number of caves or catacombs to visit, full of monsters.

Also OP, you mention you don't want the "Diablo experience", yet you bring up Might and Magic as an example, a game that brings hordes of monsters everywhere ala Serious Sam.

Not sure if you have walked around in the wilderness yourself, but you don't tend to see animals in every step. Heck you meet Sabertooth cats and wolves more often in Skyrim.

I think the OP point mostly a is lack of monster diversity. Thus the link to MM6 monster bestiary :P

Or to Daggerfall : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Bestiary

If Skyrim had any more monsters, I'd be surprised how anything humanoid could live there!

well theres hags, skeletons, wraiths, draughir....and you know dragons.
seen some daedra around but not alot of em.

Draugr are skeletons.

You've got atronachs, skeletons, hags, wraiths, trolls, giants and dragons. Not much in the way of variety is there? And yes I know in certain quests you can find certain mythical creatures but on the whole there's about 10 different enemies to face

Most difference is in the Daeadra, in other points Skyrim has just as many, if not more if we include stronger versions of some monsters...

Looking back to old rpg games of the '90, it's impressive how the game looks empty. It lacks of monsters.
Get rid of the fauna on open spaces, you only meet humans and what else?
Where are the might and magic monsters for example ?
Hundreds and hundredsspoiler.com/RPG/New.World.C.magic.6.1/mm6.html#tm

The best strongest monster I found was a winter troll (or what was the name?). Impossible to kill at level 6.
Why this choice?
Where are all the other monsters? too few in my opinion...

This is not supposed to be diablo. It's not about random hords of monsters.

It's back to this old chestnut again.

People said the same thing about Morrowind. So they introduced more level scaling. And then people complained that Bandits were too hard, and that they got no reward for levelling up.

I know that it's not an either/or, and there must be ways of maintaining the challenge at higher levels, but you have to put this complaint into the wider history of Elder Scrolls game development. Personally, if I was constantly dying at Level 40, I would be more annoyed.

Well isn't the answer to just not have level scaling? Instead have enemies that are always tougher than others. Get one hitted by something? Well it's a dangerous world out there, come back when your stronger, kick it's ass and feel awesome. Killing 3 dragons by level 5 just by standing in front of them as they breathe fire while spamming sprarks is just no fun

I believe that was how Skyrim is meant to be portrayed, it's mostly snow.

Although, I agree, there should be stranger creatures around.

However, the dragons are killing alot of them.

I just want to say the game is awesome as is. If some people min-max and then find the game too easy, that's their problem.

Everything looks the same though. They may as well have just given us one enemy but coloured it differently a hundred times and given it different names. I personally feel shortchanged

You're a bunch of idiots. It's probably a strain on the machine as it is, adding more mobs on the world map would probably mean taking something from another aspect of the game, then you'd moan about that instead!!

You clearly don't understand how performance works in relation to code so you're the idiot.

You do realise that when you leave an area that everyone in that area stops whatever their doing and only comes to life when you go back to it right? Or do you think they run the entire universe no matter where you are?

No difference between having ten enemies fighting you in a cave or fighting you in a random encounter. Having a random creature appear now and again in a random location when you enter it is not going to affect performance.

Mudcrabs, wolves, bears, sabretooths, Falmer, Dwemer constructs, Horkers just from the top of my head. And I know for a fact there's quite a few more than that.

I would like to encounter more creatures or just more spawns period. Things seem to take a very long time to reset and while you are waiting it pretty barren. I want packs of werewolves to hunt the night and vampires. I want more assasins trying to kill me beseides one every 10 lvls, remember how persistant the dark brotherhood was in mw when you were trying to sleep or wait? The game is awsome when you first start but once you start wiping everything out it stays empty for a long time. Dungeons don`t seem to respawn unless you get sent in for a quest and then it`s only usually the one guy you need to kill in the whole dungeon who is alive.

Two worlds two was a fairly decent sized game world. But once you killed everything , that was it, it was gone and it was friggin empty. Skyrim is bordering on that because for as much as they focused on the combat system and perks, it seems to me that there isn`t enough combat while you are traveling. Afew wolves here, a bear there, a saber cat there. It seems more focused on running back and fourth between objectives with little inbetween. Now some people might like it like that. But for every one person that wants to forage plants and butterflies and admire scenery without interuption, you have 20 people who want more combat.

A greater variety of enemies would be nice... but I don't think i'd want a larger quantity of enemies populating the gameworld. Between the dragons and the wolves, it already feels as though my exploration is constantly being interrupted every 5 minutes.

This.

Lately (I'm level 20) it seems like I'm always seeing a dragon circling around something in the distance.

I get interrupted a lot when randomly exploring as well by wolves, trolls (not as often), sabre cats, bears.
