I'm getting it through steam (much easer for me to get games through steam, no good game shops where I live). what do you mean by "the rest is all on windows"? .. whether you buy it through Steam or boxed, all PC owners should be able to play it together, no matter where they bought it from.
So Walmart or Steam, doesn't matter you'll still be able to play together..

Yeah, as I understand it, this game uses Steam exclusively.

So your choices are buy retail, install, register in Steam, play through Steam; or order on Steam, download, play through Steam. Either way, you end up using Steam and, either way, you end up on the same servers with the same people. Besides, Steam rocks. :)

I'll pre order it from Gamestop when the release date comes closer.

I prefer a physical copy of the game.

Everywhere near me has stopped selling PC games so I have no other option then to buy from steam, but I would probably get it off Steam anyways.

Sums up steam perfectly for us with lower grade ISPs relative to the rest of the world. The only respite is if your ISP offers unmetered access to steam servers which most don't excepting telstra, I don't suppose you're with Telstra? :P
If I can convince a friend of mine to buy it I might just copy the game files from his computer.

OT

Yes I'm going with steam,

I just have to ask.

Will the game use Steam or Games for Windows LIVE for protection?

The reason I'm asking is because it says Games for Windows on the box cover and on the bottom of this page and hopefully it just means it's PC DVD and not Windows LIVE.

Hopefully someone can confirm this as I'm looking forward to the game, wouldn't want something as Windows LIVE ruin that hehe.

With the 1$ = 1€ thing going I'm not sure if it is worth it. Might be cheaper to buy the retail for me..

Since they shoved forced steam integration down retail gamers throats I will be giving it a miss. Bulletstorm coming out at the same time, hopefully it doesn't suffer the same steam monopoly fate as this game.

Forced steam integration is killing not only retail...but other digital distributors

@developers

Yeah good choice with steam...no steam game has ever been pirated....like I mean it's not not like every steam game has been pirated just the same as games with no DRM /sarcasm.

@ BellTower

I live in AUS too, I have never found a game on Steam I could not buy cheaper at retail online. $79aus physical pre order at game.com.au

I just pre-ordered dragon age 2 on there for $46....I dare you to match that on steam @ launch day....it will cost $80U.S

That's strange...like I said though, it is nearly always cheaper for games. Check it out in future. I used to shop at EB games...how foolish I was. The game.com.au website is also $10 cheaper per game than their instore prices...put who goes into stores to buy things these days?

Get someone from the UK to gift it to you on Steam and pay the money back via PayPal.

i guess
but when u buy brink i think u get a manual
and seeing brink's art i'd think you would want to see it
and the box art and stuff is really nice too
so since its all the same i'd prefer a physical copy
