Not very well, if it runs at all.

Really?
I play it on a 7 year old computer and it runs fine.Of course it will run perfect once I get my new computer in a few months.Right now I don't have any issues playing except for a tiny bit of lag once in a while and it never crashes.I also play it vanilla though too.

Hm then what do you run it on so i can see what differences there are between the two. Also not sure if it matters but i run Counter Strike: Source and GMod on my comp pretty well and Killing floor as well with a bit of load times.

I'm not sure what "fine" means. One person might feel that lowest settings, occasional lag, and no mods was "fine," and another might call it "not very well." :)

The age of the computer isn't the issue. The Sempron CPU and the old 6200 graphics card are both at the bottom of the heap. That system meets the minimum requirements, but that's about it. Oblivion may run on low settings. I wouldn't plan on mods.

Edit: I'm putting in a request that this thread be moved to the Hardware & Software forum, so the more tech-oriented people will see it.

Is there any way i can test to see how it will handle Oblivion at all? The closest games with similar specs i can think of i listed in my reply if that helps.

The processor is probably where you will find the worst problems. You're RAM should be fine and I'm using an even older video card than you so that shouldn't be too bad so long as you keep AA, bloom, and HDR off with a low resolution, but I'm using a slightly better processor than you and the game slows way down if there are more than a few NPCs in the area, whether I can see them or not.

So would you say go ahead and get it? i mean i have it already for the Xbox 360 and i just got skyrim would you say it is worth getting on the PC for now and then as i get a new pc in the future just Move it onto that system. i ask because i want to know if i would need to run it on the lowest and if it would perform as bad as this guys. Which i doubt but i want to know what you think

I was genuinely asking glargg.I didn't mean it to come across as me being an ass.

I run it at just a little bit better than than the minimum requirements.Since this is a 7 year old computer and the only thing I have added was a bigger hard drive and a little bit more ram.The rest is stock it came with.
It looks far better than what is shown in that youtube video cloudgunho. It will have some lag in parts at times but nothing major at all(seconds tops).I would say it is worth going ahead and picking it up for the pc especially if you want to mod it and you plan to play it on a better system later on also. Its really up to you though.I don't like mods but that is my personal preference and I still prefer playing it on the pc versus an xbox.

Yeah, I didn't mean to come across that way, either. :)

If the price is right (and cloudgunho has to decide that), I'd say go for it, especially if you're planning to go to a new PC in future. It will probably run on low-ish settings well enough to play.

I was just trying to dampen any unrealistic expectations. Oblivion challenges hardware. :)

Hmm so im sort of wondering if i should Get oblivion or see how i would be able to handle Stalker since i see it is on sale now too. im asking since ive played oblivion to death on The Xbox and was wondering if since you say i would likely be running it on low if any mods would be able to run on it at all. The Stalker forums are no help ive asked but no real response to how my Comp would handle it or any of the 3 Stalker game.s
