Should I buy Skyrim now?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 1:06 pm

I was going to buy Skyrim today for the 360 and no not for the PC. Is it worth it after the whole texture issue? I don't want to play a DOS game or an old Playstation game. Yes or No.

If your PC can run it go with the PC, otherwise get a console version

Apologies, I mis-read your post. Yes, this game is epic. Irrespective of your platform. Realistically if you are playing it on console you won't notice texture issues from 4-5 foot away on your TV anyway

It is a great game for the PC. No idea how it is on a console though.

It is great on the XBox as well - don't worry about the texture issues, I doubt you will notice it (besides, Beth will fix it soon)

The texture issue only arises if you install the game on your 360 HD. Play it from the disk and the textures are fine.

Play it from the disk right? pop the disk in and play it. Hell I didn't know you could play it without the disk. Herpderp. Thanks!

The whole bonus with the PC version is the mods you can DL which can dramatically change the whole game. With awesome mods on the way it's even worth starting over for.

You misunderstand what he's saying. The first time you put the disc in the 360 it will load some files onto your Harddrive to reduce load-time. You can manually remove these and cause the game to pull them off from the disc each time they are used; i.e. "Play it from the disc"

Edit: This action has been noted to increase texture quality and fix some bugs at the expense of load time and noise (your disc is always spinning).

I have not done a thing with my xbox other than pop the game in. Are you guys just being picky or is this supposed texture problem something I just haven't encountered yet?

Definitely go with PC if you can run it.
Once creation kit comes out, mods are gonna be great.

Ignore this guy.

Go for PC because then you can get mods when they start rolling out.
