Problem Installing Fallout NV

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 8:50 am

Every time I install Fallout NV - then run it - I get the intro splash screen then a black screen with a msg saying that Fallout NV has stopped working...

Note: I have tried reinstalling Windows (7), I have tried 2 retail copies of the game, have turned off ALL background jobs including anti spyware.

Have called and written to Bethesda a number of times and cannot get any help - In fact, my last call, today, the techie said that he was emailing info to me while we were talking - no email ever arrived.

Does anyone out there know what is causing this problem? I would really like to get this game running after more than 8 months of trial and error.

Sorry - need to add a few things I think:
Windows 7, 360gb hd, 4gb RAM, nVideo GTX 460 w/1mg, two DVD-RWs, Drive C: recently fDisk'd and reloaded clean, have tried both retail versions of Fallout NV. If you need more info, please let me know.

Thanks

Might be barking up the wrong tree, but which version of the nVidia drivers are you using?

Would recommend you move this to the hardware and software issues, but since you are posting on Fallout New Vegas DLC section is the load order right? Fallout New Vegas master file should come first then followed by the DLCs (and other mods).

The installation was a basic one - nothing downloaded at all...just the basic program. and...in response to the other reply, my video driver is the most recent one available - just checked it yesterday to be sure.
