Oblivion Chrash Just after Character Creation.

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 5:16 pm

Hello, i bought Oblivion from Steam today, and finally i edit the settings and booted the game. After CHaracter creation it crashes, it happens if i make a new character too.
I want to add, that my DVD version ran fine on this computer before. But i vaguely rememer something about shivering isles not being compatible with VIsta.

It might have something to do with these hardware components.

Almost all of the mods that alter character creation also require skipping the first several scenes of the tutorial segment, so if you played using those before, but forgot you had to skip ahead, or never used such mods before, that is the situation. I think that you can play the tutorial with an "ordinary" character and then arrive at the grate that leads outside, and totally remake your character at that point (save for the long term from that point), and the mods to character creation cause no big problems any more from there. It's been a good while since I last created a new character in Oblivion, myself.

I disabled all mods but still i crashes, tried loading a save and making a new. after a couple of seconds it crashes and im unable to do anything.

I tried low setting and also changed gfx settings on my card to default but still not working. I might add that i run Skyrim on ultra too... so its clearly a compatibility issue.

Ok it dosen't crash if i dont move, but the second i press any movement button (the arrows) it crashes.

Last edit: Nevermind this, Bethesda dosen't support Windows Vista, not even on steam so i guess i have to just live without Oblivion.

This perticular issue was fixed using Windows Vista Compatiblity mode set to Windows XP SP2 + run as administrator. First time this have ever worked and thats the reason i didnt try it sooner, but here we go anyways. This issue is solved anyways =) Yay.
