Found out why my guy looks old/sad or like Loghain from DA:O

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 10:16 am

I FINALLY found out why I have scrapped so many characters because I don't like the way they look, they always ended up either looking old, sad,or they end up looking like Loghain from Dragon Age Origins http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Teyrn_Loghain_Mac_Tir

The answer is: Lighting.

I did a simple test with a torch outside and found my guy looks perfectly fine, but as soon as I put the torch away,he looks sad/old or like one of the hollow undead from Dark Souls.

Please understand that I took one of the standard faces and made some minor adjustments/customizations, so I'm not one to talk, but I think your character looks kind of sad regardless of the light. I think it's the tilt of the eyes and the lines of the mouth. I'm pretty sure you can make an angry or happy person pretty easily with the tools provided, but yours still looks sad.

Sorry!

Umm, I looked at the pictures before I read your whole post and I thought your character was a girl. At least in the ones with light.

Not Dunmer women. I swear my dark elf is the ugliest thing ever. I gave up trying to make her look beautiful and just accepted that we are back to Morrowind levels of ugly dark elf instead of the Goddesses we could create in Oblivion.

Still, it hasn't stopped everyone from wanting to marry me. Must be all the :foodndrink:

I kind of tend to make my characters look like Loghain. Even before DA:O was made, I did.

Its because everyone knows that Dunmer women are the... least inhibited of the races.

I have no idea......

I think I did,but I dont consider it eyeliner,I just considered that his eye sockets were a little darker skin pigment due to lack of sleep.

Eyebrows with more arch can help combat this effect.

Yeah the forehead wrinkles. I wish I could make them just "poof"

I tried Nord, they have a weird chin if you dont use facial hair and they have huge blocky heads.

I tried Imperial.....it ended up looking....weird....no matter how I tried adjusting the face.

The most young/normal looking guy I've been able to create is with Breton.
And this creation came out after working on him for about 35mins......
The one before him ended up looking like the guy from Prince of Persia LOL Which I thought was awesome.

Lighting really does make a lot of difference to how characters look. My imperial mage goes from looking early 20s to a hag just by stepping away from a fire.

There's only one Logain. And you won't find him in DA.

Thank you,I will try that.

Its very hard to work with the supplied eyebrows and eyes.
