I am pretty new to the Elder Scroll series (I do have Oblivion though) and had some trouble in choosing which race to play as, I have read up on the race bonuses but was still feeling a bit conflicted on what race to choose. So what race should I begin with according to you?
A would like to play as a race that specializes in one-handed, heavy armor and smithing, magic is not all too important, but I would like to have a few spells in my arsenal. Those are really all the things I want to play with, so is there any race that specializes in these?

Wood elf, light armor, stealth! just my opnion!

Orc, they are skilled warriors and having magic is seen as a gift in their culture. Plus they look the best

Wood elf, stealthy archer. Super fun. A bit slow but always satisfying.

Racial bonuses wont really make much difference in the long run, unless you're really worried about min/maxing. I'd say pick whatever you think looks the best, or you're simply most interested in.

Otherwise, I'd say either Dunmer or Imperials make the best 'rounded' characters. Nords and Redguards are very warrior-centered.

One good thing about TES games is, it doesn't matter what or who you start with, because in the end, they are all the same.

So go for what Looks good for YOU, so you will like looking at. Also what special powers do you like? Other than that, it doesn't matter what you start with. In the begining it will be easier a bit depending on what race you pick but in mid to end game it will not matter then. So go for LOOKS and SPECIAL power you think you will want the most.

So High Elf is out because you don't need the extra magika and yoiu don't need the magika regeneration boost. So maybe Argonian? They have the regeneration Health. I forget what race has the regeneration Staminia, so you can turbo run faster.

Not sure if the other racial powers will be of any fun or use.
