Character freezes

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 8:08 pm

My problem is that when I talk to specific npc's the game has a freeze and I have take the game out and try again.(Still same problem afterwards.) Actually when this first happened I was level 17 so it's not like this came on quick. I tried restoring my system, emptying my cache and loading the game back. And every order without update, with update, with save data, without save data, with options tools, without option tools. I have ran out of ideas. The game itself is version 1.06 so it's not like I can update to 100% then cancel. Will buying a new copy work? Is it my TV it's not HD?( I have it at 480p although my other ps3 80g never had the problem just this 250g one.) Is my disk to scratched?( I thought that would effect the WHOLE game not just one function.)

Also I'm getting Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition will this problem infect that game too?

Try this last thing:
Mess around with your character's equipment. Take off whatever you're wearing, change weapons, change the camera. I'd swear something similar happened to me once, and a hat or something was the cause, since removing it did the trick.

I will try this then. Thanks for the advice although you do understand my doubt.

You mentioned your update is 1.06, but the newest update is 1.07. Have you tried it with this patch applied?

Actually I got my fallout 3 and so far it doesn't have the same problem. Usually when there is a problem with the games they share the same bug cause their both exposed to the same system.( They infect each other on the same system their used on.) I am pleased because this means this is the discs fault not the software bugs. The game was scratched so I'm sure that it was scratched in some that caused this. It wasn't scratched completely just in some ways. There was also a sound like the disc was stuck. That sound was the system's inability to read the disc so it froze. Anyone with the same problems please check your disc for scratches. Mine were deep and irremovable so I just simply have to fork another $20 no big deal compared to what fallout has to offer. :fallout:

Can't wait to start the game of the year edition Mothership Zeta looks fun!

Sorry to hear that.
Well, maybe F3 goty isn't the best choice after suffering a problem like that. I got it and enjoyed it a lot, but it's even worse than New Vegas in the performance department. I hope you enjoy it and your experience is the least buggy.

BTW, I remembered something. When you first play it, once the game starts, wait until you stop hearing the installing sound. It will keep sounding once you've started playing and it may take an hour or so, but it will be worth it. Leave it there until it's done, you can pause it. Just one of the things that are recommended to avoid the problems.
