I can only buy 2 DLCs. Which do I get?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:24 am

I am getting the Gun Runners Arsenal + the $2 Pack. But thats only $8. Which is = to 1 DLC. So what other DLC do I get? I'm thinkin of either DM or OWB. The reason i'm getting the Gun Runners Arsenal is because I've been working on my Lucky 38 Pres Suite. I've got all the collectables except a cple & my house looks AMAZING. I'm wanting to do a youtube Video on it soon.

honestly, Honest Hearts & Dead Money are the only two DLCs that comport themselves in a way that they don't depend on knowing the story of one of the others.

Ultimately, it is your decision, but do not wind up getting Lonesome Road. It has 4 perks you can't even use without getting the other DLC.

I'll put my vote for either Dead Money or Old World Blues, they have the biggest end rewards and its debatable which is the more useful. Old World Blues will leave story lines open and will leave you guessing about Lonesome Road, whereas Dead Money is relatively self contained.

I'd say get Lonesome Road or Honest Hearts, but that's just personal preference talking.

Dead Money or Old World Blues. Although if i was in your situation i'd skip the two small packs and go for another story DLC instead.

Do not under any circumstances get Dead Money. It is one of the worst dlcs in any game ever. Not as bad as The Pitt, the worst dlc in any game ever, but it is horrible.

There is nothing worth putting yourself through the pain of it.
The best items in it are veras outfit and the stealth suit. And the stealth suit is worthless in comparison to the stealth suit mkII in Old World Blues.
No unique weapons, none of the weapons are worth bothering with when you have a choice. Nothing in it is worth taking back with you. Yes, it's that bad, you could ditch everything but veras outfit and the stealth suit and not be bothered.

You can't even finish it. A terminal that was supposed to turn a speaker off did'nt and made it uncompletable two times.
It's uncompletable.

It has a good story, companions and setting, apart form the stupid parts.
The gameplay is freaking broken.

If you can only get one dlc, do not for the love of anything get Dead Money!
I could get all dlc over time and I really regretted wasting money on DM.
All I got for it was 5 levels, some recipes and literally nothing else.

Get Old World Blues or Honest Hearts or Lonesome Road.
OWB and HH are the best to get. Lonesome Road is awesome but not as good as it seems. Not good enough for a only one dlc this time situation. Ok for a I'll get this next time, situation.
OWBs is absolutely awesome. Interesting, fun, nothing stopping you exploring, you don't even notice you can't leave till you finish, it's so much fun. You never want to leave.
Honest Hearts is awesome. Interesting and beautiful setting. You never want to leave.

Damn, and here i was messing around with automatic rifles and the best light armor in the game when i was supposed to be excited about some dead woman's dress that gives you trivial buffs to two skills which most people max out anyways.
There is nothing worth putting yourself through the pain of it.
[...]
It has a good story, companions and setting

Sir, I disagree with your opinion and callst thou a weiner.

But in all seriousness, I fail to see how just because YOU had trouble with Dead Money it equates to being terrible. Personally, your opinion of DM is how I feel about OWB.

@OP- Dead Money is a wonderful DLC provided you aren't used to herp derp shootin' to solve a problem. Dead Money requires patience and attention to where you step. That said, if you like good loot, Dead Money's your DLC. It has the arguably best light armor, a great rifle and pistol (Automatic Rifle and Police Pistol) the Holorifle too if you're into energy weapons. A wonderful story and dialogue.

Honest Hearts is alright, and only because Joshua Graham saves the story, the rest of it isnt all that mind blowing unless you are/RP as a survivalist. Has great weapons, but the Survivalists Rifle is personally the only one I found useful due to it's high stopping power.

Old World Blues is a great if you want a new player home. The loot is subpar in my personal opinion. The first time through it's very svck you in, but afterwords, the magic is gone and it's just an over drawn out fetch quest.

Lonesome Road is the Coup De Grace of the DLC. It has some of the best armors, best weapons, and best loot around. The atmosphere and dialogue is hauntingly beautiful, the setting is a grim view into just what America was like before the Great War as well.

Eenie Meanie Minie Moe!

Why get GRA and Couriers? Id wait til you get all four DLCs to get those..

Hmm.. If your not thinking of getting LR, get OWB. DM was alright, but I just didnt get that into it. It was worth the money, but meh. HH was too short, so get that one last if you can.. Id say either LR or OWB. You know what, get OWB, screw Lucky 38, LONG LIVE THE SINK!

For the single fact of getting The Holorifle, I say Dead Money. It's also the most challenging of the DLC, rivaled only by Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts can be done without really. If you don't have a hard on for Josh Graham (I still don't care much about him) the whole DLC is kinda pointless. Old World Blues is pretty nice but by the end I'm ready to be done with it. Upgrading the Stealth Suit is one of the most annoying things in the game for me.

So in my opinion:

Dead Money
OWB

I didn't like Dead Money because of the Survival Horror feel to it. It did have some really good loot and fun story, but too horror fest for me. I like Old World Blues the most. Because of the characters, some of the loot and the story. For a second one... hmmm... well Honest Hearts seems very good, good story and very beautiful visuals. Some good loot here and there, but I like Old World Blues more.

gun runners svcked and in dead money u have the potential to acquire 37 gold bars worth roughly 300,000 caps and the auto rifle. dead money seemed like a haunted ghost infested fallout.

Whether you like Dead Money or not, the concensus seems to be Dead Money had the best storyline. Storyline > gameplay imo, and personally I loved the gameplay aswell. Dead Money is worth getting just because of the fact that if you DO happen to be in the "I like Dead Money" half of the population, it'll be -THE- best DLC you've ever played.

Old World Blues=BEST DLC IN THE HISTORY OF DLC! If you need background about Ulysses and Christine just find it on the Wiki. It is the most fun, zany, sixy, amazing, god-like DLC I have ever played in my entire life. No freaking joke. :fallout:

Wow, that is pretty much the exact opposite of how I feel about the DLCs

Anyways, I'd say get Lonesome Road and Dead Money. LR has more replay value than DM and has better gear. DM was great the first time through and had some really interesting characters as well as some spectacular writing. Both DLCs have unique environments that were imo the most memorable environments out of any fallout game. Sometimes I wander around the Divide just because I like the area so much, the devs really did a nice job with the weather there as well as certain features (such as high road).

Dead Money and Old World Blues.

The two are kinda linked, and I rather enjoyed both. One warning though.

DEAD MONEY IS A SURVIVAL HORROR ADDITION. IT IS HARD. YOU DIE EASY. IT HAS UNKILLABLE ENEMIES YOU HAVE TO GET AROUND, AND SOME VERY ANNOYING HAZARDS. If this turns you off, get Honest Hearts instead. I liked it, but if you don't like being low on ammo, low on supplies, and having your head explode if you fail an eye exam (finding a hard to spot device... repeatedly), go with Honest Hearts.

Or just wait till a bundle pack comes out that's cheaper and get them all.

Don't get Lonesome Road though... I'm seriously beginning to think all the people suggesting it are plants from Bethesda. I've yet to hear a single compelling argument in its favor... and if you want to hear arguments against it, look at ANY review of the game.

1.Dead Money - This one is ruff particularly at first but the rewards (perks, weapons, and Sinclairs wonderful vending machines) are well worth the time spent. Get it and take it slow.
2.Honest Hearts - This one looks really nice but the rewards are just meh. If you don't really care about the burned man then pass this one by.
3.Old World Blues - The silly one of the group so if that isn't your bag (the jokes do wear-thin with time) you should still get this one because the rewards (traits, sink, perks, and the list goes on) are just as silly (in a good way)
4.Lonesome Road - This wraps up the courier story and has a real nice boost to a companion. Some neat things here but the rewards just were not that great.

With most of the DLC's having a 100 in the skills of Lock-pick, Science, and Speech help a lot.
