Is New Vegas DLC worth buying?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:49 pm

I really really enjoyed This game. Though I don't normally buy DLC I think this game is special. My question is... Is the DLCput out for this game as high of quality as the core game and worth the money? At this point I would practically be rebuying the game if i was to buy all of the content available. Additionally, is there any specific bit that is NOT worth the money? How does the DLC compare to Fallout 3? thank you for your input.

This game IS special. This game is the first game that I bought DLC for and thought I got my money's worth. Get them all

Get Dead Money first. You may love it more than anything else ever, or you may hate the difficulty. Either way, the DLC is extremely well-written.
Get Honest Hearts. Here the story is more disappointing and short, but the DLC has nice replayability; it's quick and has nice scenery and rewards, so you never dread going back.
Get Old World Blues. This one is as if you took a trip back to FO3. Suddenly exploration is fun, the storyline barely matters at all (but that's ok, because the DLC seems to make it clear from the start that it's not gonna be big on story) and enemy's are friggin' bullet sponges.
Then get Lonesome Road last. This is just an end to things. It finishes up the story, finishes up the game and truly tests what you know about surviving the wastes.

Each is unique in it's own way. Gun Runner's Arsenal provides fun new toys and the Courier's Stash is a nice convenience for the beginning, aswell.

I cannot really do much except agree with Longknife in every way, except to say that Old World Blues is fricking hilarious and it is a warcrime to skip through it's dialog. Also to say that Honest Heart's story is better than the rep it gets, but NOTHING compared to Dead Money or Lonesome Road.

The other thing I wanted to say is that if you enjoy the DLC & have a ton of patience, you may want to look into FO1 & FO2. It didn't steer me wrong, but if you decide to go there, make sure you know what you're getting into.

In my personal opinion the DLC adds different areas and view points; all of witch we will see differently.

I enjoyed all of the DLC actually, but you would have to end up trying it to see what you think of it.

Honest Hearts pales(am I using the right spelling?) in comparison to all of the other DLC, and it's only worth it if you really love tribal stuff and think Joshua Graham's manly toughness will heal your soul. It's the easiest DLC to play, so I would get that one first, and all other DLC will seem perfect after that. Dead Money is incredibly difficult, but the characters and story are really great, but prepare to be frustrated with the game play.

Joshua Graham's manly toughness will heal your soul.

I lost it there

Ahem, anyway, OP the DLC of this game is creme de la creme.

Dead Money- An epic story wrapped with deep themes of greed, betrayal, and death. Dead Money is a survival horror DLC that makes you appreciate every helpful item you obtained, has great post DLC content for light armour users and guns users.

Honest Hearts- A beautiful DLC set in Zion National Park that embroils you in a war between four tribes, it holds very good items for the survivalist, armor weapons and healing items wise it's a loot fest. It's also a great Guns and Light armor DLC

Old World Blues- If you love 1950's sci-fi this DLC is made for you. This DLC shows where Holograms (Dead Money npc/foes), Cazadores, and Nightstalkers come from. If you love Energy Weapons this DLC caters to your itch for powerful toys, with MANY new perks in the DLC it keeps you intrigued to the end.

Lonesome Road- The coup de grace of the DLC, this DLC is the closure to the games personal story arch in your final confrontation with Ulysses. Explore The Divide, the ruins of the Pre-War city of Hopeville. Lonesome Road is a grim view of just what America's jingoism and optimistic atomic optimism rewarded them with. This DLC contains many good weapons and armors, it's signature piece is the Red Glare rocket launcher.

Absolutely! As far as story type DLC goes, these have amazing value, comparable to EFLC.

Honest hearts and old world blues are brilliant! Dead money is boring I wouldn't buy that! I haven't got round to finishing lonesome road yet, but dont get that until you have played the others.

To be honest, I"m not big on paying for DLC either. Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are the only exceptions in my case. As far as the DLC for New Vegas, I really liked all of them except Dead Money. I found that one kind of boring. But the rest were kick-ass. Of course, everyone has their own opinions as to what DLCs are better.

I agree, this game is special. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the DLC, and I recommend that you buy all of them. New Vegas with all DLCs may just be the best game that I have ever played, and I've put more hours into New Vegas than any other game that I've played in the last few years. The DLC adds a lot to the main game experience, and I wouldn't have enjoyed New Vegas this much if it weren't for the DLCs.

All four DLC's are worth buying if you have loved Fallout New Vegas.

In my opinion...although it takes a while...don't judge any one DLC until you have played each and every one...even the ones you might like the least will grow on you after completing them all and having that experience as a reference.

In all but Dead Money you can return to that area which is nice. Each one also gives you some unique weapons and armor.

Did you now? I swear you should read some of the fanfic! I highly doubt his manhood works after being covered in pitch, burned, and thrown into the grand Canyon, yet apparently all of his manly anatomy is still effective. Graham has a very sixy voice, but come on! Who could really want a burn victim? I find it repulsive.
