OK - Which dev is a Seminole Fan? (Go FSU!)

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:40 am

I have to say, just about every time I open up a burial urn I see one of two things:

Garnet
Gold

Sometimes both. Occasionally I find amethyst, or the rare Flawless Garnet, but I just can't imagine how this is a coincidence. At least one of the level designers must have been a Seminole fan for there to be this much garnet and gold all over Skyrim. It's quite a nice little Easter egg, since I'm a Nole myself... but still.

Has anyone else noticed this?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about:
Florida State University is a popular school in the U.S. Their school colors are http://garnetandgold.com/. Some people even refer to the school by the color names. Not only that, but while Gold is probable enough for any video game, Garnet is something of a strange piece of loot to have laying around everywhere. Seeing so much of it makes me suspicious.

Hehehe!

I feel like you're reading into that way to much to assume something like this. Not that it may not be true, but I myself notice an even mixture of gems. The inventory on my Dunmer is proof, as I have 8 Amethyst, 7 Ruby, 4 Garnet, 7 Diamond. And gold is in ALMOST every urn or chest.

Wow, really? I have found 0 rubies and 0 diamonds. Almost everything I get is either Garnet, Flawless Garnet, or Amethyst.

Ha. So I'm not the only one who has seen this.

I think it's more from the spelling preference in the contents list, which will always put 'Garnet' just above 'Gold' in the loot list. To most, nothing they would notice.

But to us 'Noles out there, it's a mantra.

Ahhhhh... That's a good observation. That is probably a lot to do with it actually. Just seeing the words "Garnet - Gold" in the right order triggers an automatic reaction.

Geologist stundent in me says: skyrim has seen a lot of mountain building therefore metamorphic activity has occurred n the rock, garnet is a by product of mountain building expect it to be common.

Gamer in me says: RNG is RNG
