Does anyone remember Brotherhood of Steel for xbox/ps2?

Post » Wed Sep 23, 2009 10:01 pm

I remember playing it on xbox around 2005. I had some fun with for awhile but it got stale fast. It was basically a top down 3rd person game, similar to Diablo or Baldur's Gate(the console versions) only it was set in the Fallout universe with guns and such for those that never played or heard of it.

You mean "P.O.S." ? (figure out what that stands for ;) ) Yeah, don't bother. That's my review: "don't bother."

lol, I actually liked it for alittle bit. It was nothing more than a mindless hack and slash game, only with guns, and stats. But it got old and boring fast.

I'd also like to know what the fans of FO 1&2 thought and those that never played the originals but only played that one.

Yeah, I returned that game within a week of buying it, honestly. I rather liked the console Baldur's Gate, which is what Brotherhood of Steel seemed to be based off of. But even in that regard, I wasn't terribly happy with the gameplay in Brotherhood of Steel. It just didn't work rather well. I found myself very often catching fire from off-screen enemies, having trouble actually hitting people, etc. As an actual game, I just didn't find it terribly fun to play. Had it other redeaming features, I might have felt differently, but it really didn't.

I didn't really feel like it had much of a connection to the Fallout universe besides some arbitrary trappings. I'm not going to go on a rant about "that's not what the Brotherhood of Steel would do," because frankly I don't mind seeing them take a more active role in the world at large from their sedentary philosophies of F1 and 2.

It just seemed to me that the designers didn't really "get" the Fallout franchise. It didn't even look much like a Fallout game with the art direction, etc. It looked like a post-apocalyptic game, but that doesn't mean that it's necessarily a Fallout game.

It seemed less like "hey let's bring Fallout to the consoles" (which I don't think was necesarily a bad idea) but "hey, let's make a kick-ass post-apocalyptic game where you shoot lots of things." And then let's put in a coupe arbitrary trappings so that we can say it's Fallout, for some reason.

This is the Game That Nobody Speaks About. Ever. Does that say anything about it's quality?

It was so bad it was the death knell for Interplay. does that tell you anything? You know there are quite a few threads on the forum about how Game reviews are all biased to the developers, But no one seems to recall how bad the reviews were for this game. It was bad and it got panned. Rightfully so. It was an Abomination.

It's the only Fallout game that was entirely removed from the official canon.

Hmm... I'm looking at the posts in this thread and they all appear to be blank... Is anyone else experiencing this, or are you discussing something I have a mental block on?

It's the only game that I've ever known to have its Forum removed because of all the negative feedback.

Never played and never will.
I looked at the trailer and it pretty much tells me what I need to know about the game.
The trailer was composed of :

- Heavy Metal Music
- Fire, guns, explosions
- Swearing
- A very, bery bad narrated storyline with cheezy lines.
- Fast-paced action.

And the, erm, power armor. Or should I say, robot armor.

Yep. I suppose it's like Hunter : The Reckoning. Run and shoot. You know, there's a test a Fallout player can do to know if he's really a fan of the series. Touch BoS' disk. If your skin burns, you are a true fan. If not, too bad for you. :)

hell you don't even need to like fallout for it to burn you just be older than 8 like good video games and have an attention span over 10 seconds and it will melt your flesh from your bone

Edit: this thread should be deleted for merely mentioning this abomination

Well, without ridiculous shoulder armor and red color it'd look reasonable.. But nothing compared to FO2 Enclave armor, which was most awesome armor I've ever seen.

You're all absolutely right and P.O.S describes this game perfectly, lol(I know what it means, hehe). I made this topic to see how much other people hated it and what the fans of FO thought about it, and I was bored.

That game could have been good too. I'm just happy Bethesda didn't screw up with Fallout 3 because now I can enjoy a post apocalyptic game without too much frustration, and role play and explore at the same time. I had trouble getting into FO1&2, but I do see that that they were great RPG's for their time.

:stare:

'Scuse me? Those games, aside from their graphical limitations, are STILL great RPG's. In fact I have yet to have found more than a handful of rivals since!

Oh yeah! How could I have forgotten this! :)

It turned the Vault Dweller into the third sibling of Santa Claus and the Chessmaster.

Whoa. so the Vault Dweller is someone who basicly knows how to fight with every single weapon type. And yes he looks like Santa Claus. :)
