how many of you have seen a dragon, but it didn't attack you?

i was pretty chuffed (from scoring some enchanted orc armour) when i was walking to winterhold (from the far left of the map) whilst being over encumbered.as i was walking through a wood,i could hear the roar of an approaching dragon.oh bugger i thought to myself, now i've had it.i was quite close to a fort at this point.the dragon duely appeared and was feasting on the guards (?) that had come out to fight it.i could see them being thrown in the air like rag dolls :hubbahubba:  anyhoo as much as i was enjoying the spectacle,i knew that it wouldn't be long before the dragon turned it's attention to me.sure enough, the dragon (once finished kicking the soldiers arses) started to circle above me.here we go,i thought to myself.then the dragon just started to circle further away, until it had flown away from me completely.i would just like to thank the dragon for not attacking me (whilst i was at a disadvantage). :mage:

I see this all the time, but it seems to only be Blood Dragons that do it.

It works better if you hit them with a shout.

Shouts have limited range, and the dragons I see doing this are REALLY high in the air. So high, it's almost impossible to hit them with spells or arrows, too because even if you fire one into their path, they instantly turn away from it before it reaches them. :/

I just leave those alone. If one wants to attack me it will. I personally find it creates a bit ot tension in the air when I know one is near. I can hear him and I just keep thinking any minute I'm going tobe on fire.

Approaching bandit camp, suddenly a dragon flies overhead.

OH CRAP I'M GOING TO DEAL WITH HIM FIRST.

Dragon circles around, roaring

HERE HE COMES

Dragon continues circling

Meh, I'll just beat up these bandits

Dragon attacks a bear

I forget about Dragon and continue murdering bandits

and suddenly

DRAGON IS BEHIND ME BREATHING ICE WHAT THE HELL?

WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG, DRAGON?

When I was visiting Azura's shrine for the first time, a dragon came flying by. Apparently it didn't find a landing spot (and the shrine was in the way for ranged attacks or something), so it continued to fly around the shrine and the nearby mountain tops, doing some crazy 360-turns on the spot mid flight and stuff like that. Looked pretty funny :) Since it wouldn't engage me, I just left to continue with my quest at some point.

It happens like this quite often actually. You have to make an attempt to engage it by getting closer, shouting, shooting arrows, etc. Sometimes they fly off. They typically stay in that area though, so come back later and you might see them again.
