Enchanting Tips (?)

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:53 am

I have just started to experiment with enchanting my weapons and armor, but I have a few questions and concerns before I start messing with my better equipment.

1. Does it matter if I enchant before or after I upgraded them with smithing?

2. I have an epic glass sword at 39 damage, but when I put a fire enchantment it depreciated in damage AND value... what's the cause of this?

3. Should I wait until I get better soul gems to do an initial enchant and just save the lower soul gems only for a recharge?

4. Is there one enchantment that seems to be the best? (I currently have fire, frost, and shock available)

5. What creatures give the best souls when you capture them? I have a backup sword to fill gems and would like to know which creature I should pull it out for.

You guys and girls are very knowledgeable and helpful on this forum, much more than any other game, so props for that. Thank you to anyone who can help with any or all questions!

1. Depends whether you have arcane blacksmith or not.

2. Sometimes when selecting enchantments for a weapon, it will not show your weapons true damage until after you actually enchant it.

3. Initial Charges should always be made with Grand. Azura's star is great for recharging.

4. Yes, I put +47% bow damage/ One handed weapon damage on 4 pieces of my armor. This maximizes the damage that your weapons can do completely. My bow right now does 561 damage and my swords do 320 each.

5. Mammoth/people give grand souls. Giants, I believe, give greater.

Wow Dextron thats heaps helpful thanks dude. One question though, where did you get +47% bow damage? Also, is there a maximum amount of times you can enchant an enchantment on your equipment or could I put +47% bow damage on my weapon and all my armour?

I had to get 100 alchemy to get my enchantments to 47%. In the end you need 100 enchanting + an 32% enchanting potion to get maxed out gear. Without 100 alchemy your max will only be 41%.

You can only put damage modifiers on a maximum of 4 pieces of equipment. For bow damage it's helm/gloves/ring/necklace. For one-handed damage it's gloves/boots/ring/necklace.

Would the bow damage work for the Bound Bow or is there a bound weapon damage increase that would have to be used?

I have no clue if conjured items are affected by your armor enchantments.

Where did you happen to find a plus bow damage enchant?
