In the tunnels in Oblivion planes, there are sometimes holes where you drop down to a different level in the cave.

In at least one tunnel, there's a hole that has lava in it. If you drop down into it and swim through the lava, you can reach a little safe area that's above the lava. There's a fleshy pod - maybe two - that you can loot.

Problem is, you can't get back out. At least I can't. I've tried to swim back through the lave and jump back up through the hole, but I don't even come close.

Does anyone know of a way out of this lava pit?

Sounds like the "Fume Vaults". Only way out that I know of is with high Acrobatics and Water Walking or master Acrobatics perk maybe. If all else fails and you are on the PC then you could use the TCL console command.

Ah. Water walking. Never thought of that -- guess because it's lava and not water.

My acrobatics is pretty good. I might be able to pull it off.

And yes, it is the Fume Vaults.

If you are forced to reload a save.... (I too, found that area which you speak of) I got out of there the second time by bring paintbrushes with me, and using this glitch to "ladder" my way out. It IS possible to jump out, but the only characters who could do this had acrobatics maxed.

Well, my acrobatics wasn't as good as I'd thought (only 62) , but with the walkng on water idea, enough magic, and repeated tries ... I made it out of the lava pit.

For the record, I wasn't stuck there b/c of a saved game, I just wanted to see if it could be done .. without blatantly cheating.

That's too bad. My fighter-type characters start the MQ at about level 25 to 30. So I get serious loot in those weird out of the way places.
