regarding this "patch"

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:15 am

so iv'e run into this dlc error on new vegas. everywhere i look for a solution a lot of people are talking about this patch that will be available for download which should fix the problem. what about people like me who don't have xbox live? i'm living in university dorms and as far as i know we are not allowed things like xbox live, so what the hell do i do? i can't believe that's the only solution! have obsidian forgotten that a great number of people who have xboxs dont have xbox live, or an internet connection in general? i find it very hard to believe that for people in my present situation are unable to play this game, ever.

Also I haven't heard of a college campus yet that doesn't have internet access in the dorms. Why would they care if you are using Xbox Live? How would they even know what you use that interent connection for?

we do have internet connection, but they limit it to one laptop per dorm room, some kind of proxy settings or something. i dont know why they care but they do.

Couldn't you use that internet connection to log into Live and update? Even if it's a wireless connection there is an adaptor for the old 360 and the new one has built in wireless.

I would look at the settings in the laptop. If it's DHCP then just unplug the ethernet from your laptop and plug it into the Xbox. If they are using the MAC address, maybe find a router and clone the MAC address of your laptop and then plug in both the laptop and Xbox. It seems kind of silly that they would only allow one laptop but it's their network and their rules.

thanks, i'll give that a try. yeah it is kind of stupid, i don't know why they would have to ration internet. the internet here is always down and i can never do my work because computers are our main learning resources and they constantly break down. i dont want to say that its because we're in wales but i've never experienced this in england before, or any other country. thanks for the replys!

Your father doesn't buy a car thinking he'll never have to get it repaired either. Nothing is perfect.Find an internet connection somewhere just like your dad found a mechanic.

A lot of games companys do this.

It's the price of having consoles that have internet connections. On the other hand its also a plus to have that internet connection, as before if a game was bugged, that was it. No fixie.

Find a friend with a good internet connection and take you xbox over to get the patch, thats really the only option.

Got some decent cell phones? with an evo you can create an adhoc network and broadcast and internet connection. Just need a wireless adapter for your xbox if you don't have one. As long as you have an unlimited data plan you can do that with most of the newer smart phones. Actually you can do it with any phone but with older ones you might need a few to tie in a decent connection.

its a real shame this game is so buggy because its so enjoyable. Ive had to loose hours of gameplay already, tho I did find a work around while still completing debt collector, though i shouldnt have to pray to obsidian that my save file doesnt corrupt. i will continue playing i guess..
