QUESTIONS - Repair & Maintain + Numbers By Icons?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:44 am

Hello,

After playing for a bit last night, I came across I couple things I have some questions about:

1. Could someone please explain what the different is between "repairing" a weapon & "maintaining" a weapon?

2. I also am wondering what the number stands for to the right of the weapon category icons? The icon and number located directly above the "DAM & DPS" when viewing your weapons in your pipboy. For instance my 9mm pistol has a 0 next to the icon (icon looks like 3 bullets or something representing the guns skill), while my 9mm sub machine gun has a 25 next to the icon. Anyone know what these numbers stand for?

Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

Repair/Maintain = Top damage threshold.
Repair = Condition below max damage for the weapon
Maintain = Condition buffer at max damage

2) I have no idea

I thought that number was for alternate ammo, but I'm not sure if that's right anymore. We should really read the instruction manual.

It's a skill requirement to be able to use the weapon to it's best of it's capability.

@Tale

Thanks for clarifying that! I thought that might be what it meant, but I wasn't sure.

@FallenAce

I have read the instruction manual all the way through and it doesn't have any info in regards to the 2 questions I asked. I don't think the number to the right of the weapon category is for alternate ammo types. That's what I also thought at first, but I didn't have 2 different types of 9mm ammo in my inventory.

@harmy52

Ahh okay! That definately makes sense now. Thanks for clarifying that!

If you ever want to go back and see the pop-up for a given screen (like weapons or armor), you can find that information by going to the pause menu and selecting "HELP", then cycling through the pages.

2. The number is the minimum skill required to use that weapon without penalty. The icon corresponds to the skill that weapon uses. If you do not meet the requirement, the weapon will either be less accurate (if ranged) or attack more slowly (if melee).
