Things that plague tes games

Tes is one of the best rpgs we know. Why else would we get onto this forums? But it does have problems. What do you think they are?

My list (which is not your list, although if it is, we are probably right)

The lore is not used enough in gameplay. Liches are common and weak in oblivion. There arent any of the werecreatures described , there arent lots of different types of khajit or argonians
Acrobatics is [censored]. Taking it out isnt helping it much. It should be made to allow mirrors edge type stuff.
Gameworld and cities should have always been bigger(dagerfall does not count)
That some aspects of realism should come in.
Combat could always be better and there are never enough types of weapon (morrowind does not count because all the weapons acted the same)
that vilain creation is shallow and i could never emphasize with any of them

Tes is one of the best rpgs we know. Why else would we get onto this forums?

Because TES are extraordinary sandbox games and that's rare.

Liches are common and weak in oblivion.

The few liches I encountered in Morrowind and Daggerfall were pretty deadly. Monster scaling/leveling problems in Oblivion are old news.

There arent any of the werecreatures described [...]

There were werewolves in Morrowind and even wereboars in Daggerfall. Oblivion is the only one I played that didn't have any werecreatures.

Combat could always be better and there are never enough types of weapon (morrowind does not count because all the weapons acted the same)

Although I agree with the point here, why wouldn't Morrowind count? If you used a spear the exact same way as a dagger or a sword, you were doing it wrong.

that vilain creation is shallow and i could never emphasize with any of them

I didn't understand that part. What do you mean by vilain creation?

As for the other points, I agree with most and don't really mind the others.
My list would look more like this:

-most dungeons are too small (Morrowind & Oblivion)
-not enough puzzles
-in Oblivion, not enough topics available in dialogues with npcs.

Different players search for different things I guess. ^^

Things I consider to "plague" TES games currently:

  • Fully voice-acted dialogue
  • 3rd person POV
  • Fast-travel, markers, and various other forms of hand-holding
  • Constant streamlining of the skill/levelling system
  • Limitations of console gaming
  • Mediocre melee combat

Things that "plagued" TES games in the past, but no longer seem to be an issue:

  • Excessive use of random generation
  • Awful character models

Things that look likely to "plague" the TES series in the future:

  • Cinematics
  • Mini-games
  • Too much focus on life sim stuff

A recent thing that plagues TES is Fallout. I wish they didn't buy that franchise. I can imagine the level of depth, polish and detail of a TES game that is made with full team working for 5 years on it.
