Potential DLC's

Post » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:08 pm

Okay I know the game hasn't even landed yet but I bet the developers have already thought about DLC both small and large

Small like - here's some new armour and large such as here's another area to explore - that made me wonder if they would move into other areas of Tamriel - the opportunity to go to High Rock or Summerset Isles really appeals to me - though I suspect they may want to keep those areas free for any more sequels in the series.

If you were given an area to explore in Tamriel would you want part of another province or an island of the coast of Skyrim?

It will be Xbox only, so why should I care?

I'd like an expansion to go back to Solstheim.

Solstheim, maybe go to a small part of Akavir (without seeing the whole thing).

I'd like some DLC on the Falmer if they aren't touched upon much in the game's lore expansions.

Like past TES games, I bet they'll release a few small DLC packages, and then one (or two) big expansions.
Hard to say what the expansion would be like, until we see what direction Skyrim goes in. But maybe an island off the coast, or just a quest expansion that involves new people/places in Skyrim.

It will be Xbox only, so why should I care?

DLC has been available for Oblivion and Fallout on the Xbox/PS3. What is your complaint?

Todd said they found the sweet spot for DLC with Fallout 3, so I don't expect anything big. I can totally see the Labyrinthian being DLC if it's not on disc.

Edit: I believe it was the Kotaku podcast he said that. Someone correct me.

No, we still don't have Oblivion's DLC, excluding KotN and Shivering Isles. We also had to wait nearly a year for the same DLC as the Xbox version for Fallout 3 only to get an unpolished and obviously rushed product that both broke games (crashing/freezing/lagging) and never got patched or acknowledged by Bethesda. Then, New Vegas' DLC is once again a timed exclusive, but even PC players aren't getting its DLC.

Solsthiem revisited could be awesome :P

You see, DLC's are a nice way to pass a couple of hours but with an expansion pack you can make a whole other experience for the player and add substantial amount of content.

I don't see the downside of it, sure, production times are a lot higher than DLC but they are also a lot lower than full on games and the price cut is big enough to be more than worth it.

All I'm trying to say is, sure, DLC's usually are fun little packs but all the other times they just svck imo.

Thats why you need to throw that piece off [censored] ps3 away. And buy a Xbox360 and enjoy these good expansions. I've been buying every DLC availble of Bethesda the ever made.
and i plan to keep doing that.

Roscrea, I believe, and an expedition to Atmora's coast are both doable, IMO.

I would be surprised if we see any small DLCs like armors and stuff. gamesas got a lot of complaints for their minor DLCs for Oblivion, and with Fallout 3 all the DLCs offer quests and are sort of mini-expansions.

I'd like to visit Hammerfell, we still have many places to visit, whole continents in fact, Akavir, Pyandonea (home to the tropical elves, the Maormer) Atmora (Origin of the Nords, many are still there) Thras (sunken, recently arose, home to the Sloads, ugly slugmen, though very intelligent and adept in the arcane arts) and there used to be the Redguards homeland, Yokuda, but it was sunken.

I really, really hope Bethesda works on a decent size expansion for TES V like they did for Shivering Isles. SI breathed new live into Oblivion that the original game was missing and was a really good deal too. I didn't buy any of the Fallout expansions because I couldn't decide what I wanted to spend my money on. I would rather have one big expansion for $30 rather than 3 seperate $10 DLC packs.

Since Skyrim is still struggling with Hammerfell and High Rock, I would like to play into that as an expansion. Maybe a trip to Stros M'kai for a warm and balmy change of pace from the cold rigors of the Northern lands.

I hope they don't make that mistake again. But, I honestly don't know what agreements are made in licensing considering that Sony is a direct competitor of Microsoft.

Yeah, the main complaint was price vs content. That was later fixed.

When it comes to DLC I want to see big ones, new questlines in the same world or new places. Like Rockstar did with GTA4, both Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony were awsome and really worth the mone. Something as substantial for Skyrim would be great, like they have done before, Shivering Islands and for what they did for Morrowind.

I hope they don't feel as disconnected as Fallout 3's DLC do. They were nice, but when you were done, you really were done. You'd leave the separate world space added for the DLC, and most likely never come back.

I wouldn't mind new armor and weapons as long as it was worth the price - none of this "one suit of armor for 100 MS points" stuff. If you want to give me a pack for say, 400 points that has a decent selection of new armor and weaponry, go for it.

My problem with Fallout 3's DLC is that so few of them were worth any replay value whatsoever. The only ones that really hit the spirit of the game were Point Lookout and Broken Steel. The others were just linear that you'd plow through in a couple of hours. Now I wouldn't mind a DLC that's a good, long dungeon crawl..but that shouldn't be all there is to it.

Beth blazed the trail for downloadable content. It started with horse armor, and ended with Shivering Isles and the Fallout DLC. I think Beth learned that we want mini-expansions or larger, not the Orrery.

I would welcome a piece of DLC that lets us hit the high seas.

Solsthiem would be an obvious choice.
I would kill to see what it is like now that it has been overrun by Dumer refugees fleeing the Argonian invasion.
