Will I be able to load my corrupt save files after new patch

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:25 am

As the topic inquires I wonder if I can load my save files after the new patch or if it will only work when starting a new game from scratch. If the second option is true I will probably bin this game, move on never buying a Bethesda (obsidian developed) product again. Such a shame for an excellent game.

Nope, the patch will not fix your corrupted save files. Someone posted an email they got from Bethesda, stating that it won't. Starting from scratch is your only option.

To clarify, are your corrupt files as a result of the DLC error that is normally associated with finishing the "Come fly with me" quest? If so, you can load a save prior to finishing the quest and it should work. To avoid having to do that quest just access Manny's computer in Novac and your main quest will update without having to do "Come fly with me".

I got the dlc error but only after being killed in tops casino many hours after doing the come fly with me quest. Now all my save files are corrupt even those saved several hours before. It seems that the come fly with me quest may be one of the culprits with the game breaking save bug but it appears that it can happen at almost any point in the game.

What if my save isn't corrupted? My problem is that vault 34 won't load and that's where my save is. It isn't corrupted. At least the game never said anything about corruption. It will just freeze when i try to load it. Will the patch fix that?

Oh no. This has been confirmed? I just hit 30 hours and began questing in Vault 3 when my files were corrupted. Up to yesterday, I had no issues. I had 4 save files, all saved at various points in Vault 3 and all 4 are corrupted. So, I need to start over?

Can someone actually show us that they said they can't fix our corrupted saves? I know this isn't Dragon Age: Origins but when the files became corrupted on that game 10 months later they actually fixed it. The only way to fix it though is if the file on the Hard Drive doesnt say corrupted, so my suggestion is look in your hard drive save files for New Vegas and see if it says corrupted and if it doesnt there is possibility that it could be fixed.

To be fair in a few years that 30hours will still be just as wasted regardless if the character finished his journey.
