As we are only about 10 days out from Skyrim I thought it might be a good time to appreciate all past Elder Scrolls games as we are about to add another fantastic addition to the series.

Oblivion has so long been my only latest Elder Scrolls fix, it will be missed! With times of shooting the Adoring Fan off of Dive rock, to finding the poor inadequate troll.

Morrowind, there's no doubt about it. No game before and after was like this masterpiece.

Arena
My first PC game (Coming from an Amega). Many battles with the dreaded CONFIG.SYS / AUTOEXEC.BAT files, in order to give it the memory it needed to run. I once stood for 20 real-time min's in-town waiting for a solar eclipse to happen.

Daggerfall
Oh god, the endless dungeons. Fantastically convoluted plot-line. The peaceful nighttime strolls in Daggerfall city. The BOOKS !

Battlespire
Fully voiced dialogs. The Mock Turtle The dragon-bone skeleton.

Redguard
The introduction to the Dwemer lore. The first time a metal sphere opened. The beetle / scarab puzzle. Our first live DRAGON !

Morrowind
Oh god - THIS is what computer games should be. Endless hours exploring. Endless hours looking for a stupid puzzle box.

Oblivion
Nirvana. 'nuff said.

Skyrim

My first was Daggerfall. It was HUGE! For its time, it was the most incredible game ever, in spite of crashing and falling through floors. Saved games became a way of life. Those randomly generated dungeons were absolutely incredible. It was so vast and so fresh with its skill based class and leveling system. The character creation was awesome! It had the positive stuff I loved in rpgs (tabletops, as all my references to rpg are tabletop) mixed with the speed of (that time's) computer. Incredible.

Morrowind was my next. The expansiveness and randomness gave way to detail and stability. The system was still incredible and had the wonderful feeling of being an rpg run at a newer computer's speed. Graphics improvement was high between chapters. Hundreds and hundreds of hours spent playtime.

Oblivion: smaller, graphically better. More restricted and less depth in some ways, but the basics are still there, and I enjoyed it very much.

Skyrim: going to be missing a large part of rpg (character generation, attributes) - one of the things I've loved so much about the series has a huge chunk ripped out. Hopefully they'll allow for a mod or dlc for rpg mode so I can look back and reminisce how much I loved this game, too.

TY Morrowind for intriguing me enough with a strange new fantasy setting( most of the time I loath fantasy settings) and interesting entry to get me into TES.

Started with Daggerfall and it was simply amazing. The best character creator ever period. Went back and played Arena and it was ok, but after playing DF it just could not compete. Morrowind took be to a different place, and I went deep. Although annoying at the beginning of the game the exploration was phenomenal.
