A game that revolves around ancient society and myths.

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:23 am

I have always wanted to see a game that revolves around ancient society and myths. So I thought that Bethesda would be the perfect company to develop a game like this. Especially since they did a great job on RPG's like the Elder Scrolls and Fall Out. please move this thread where it belongs. And any ideas on what the game could be like IF it were to be made.

EDIT: Open world RPG

It would be cool if there were different mythologies in the game, and you could join one as a champion or hero or something. And there could be like conflicts, so like one society and their gods could fight another, and you could fight gods. This would such a great game! (If done right.)

But the game should probably be made when huge, Earth sized areas can be fitted in a game, so that the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Norse, etc. could all fit on one map without it feeling too cramped.

I think he meant a RPG.

AoM was a great game though. It should get a remake.

My first thought was Dante's Inferno. You know, a game where you get to roam around in the nine levels of hell and talk to all the ghosts from the myths, battle some harpies and do quests for Aeneas.

Or the other two afterlifes as well. It would be pretty depressing to be limited to hell.

This idea is pretty terrible. It is very broad, the mythologies would not allow for any consistent lore or plot. Even the game play would be iffy. I believe one suggestion was to give each mythology its own land mass. That is simply ludicrous. I guess its fine for everyone to have that one game idea, or that one perfect vision for a game, that if it were made they would not need to play anything ever again. But we need to make sacrifices and play a lot of different games to fill the void that certain titles can or can not fill. Pretty much all your doing with this idea is trying to dress up the Bethesda RPG framework within your own "perfect" setting. I know I've done the same, but I understand that doing so would be nearly impossible. Thus I became a game designer to create my own visions, sadly it was at that time I learned why ideas like this will never come to fruition.

Never played it myself, but this game may fit the bill:
