ZeniMax Removes my video's

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:07 pm

Hello.

I made a couple of timelapse video's from the game Skyrim showing a few beautiful area's within this game.
Now I got the message that ZeniMax Media Inc has removed one of my video's. There is no specific reason given why it has been removed.

This is an example of another one that is still up (don't watch if you are afraid of spoilers):

My question is why are these video's being removed? YouTube is loaded with Skyrim video's (for example by the Yogscast) and these are simply playthroughs.
I spend hours on recording, tweaking and editing to create my video's and those get removed?
I clearly state in the description what game it is from and that the music is from the game as well.

I would very much appreciate it to get in contact with someone from ZeniMax who can explane this ridiculous action.

Try putting a "Copyright Disclaimer" in your videos at the beginning. Something that says "The following content is in no way my own property and belongs solely to its rightful owners." should be good. You have to blatantly state that the content is not yours so that you can claim http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use and upload it.

Thank you for your reply.
I added additional disclaimer info to the video descriptions. I also contacted ZeniMax so if they come with more information I will post that here.

Wow! It's getting uglier every hour now with Skyrim, Bethesda and ZeniMax.

Make sure you add a little sense of sarcasm to it too after the disclaimer.

It's their job to get rid of copyright material so don't get too frustrated, probably just some over zealous office worker who had a few too many last night. Continue your investigation and if you're in the right, (Due to fair use) which basically states:

Fair Use makes allowances for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

If this fits your description, you may be liable for legal action if you feel really strongly about your video.

Yeah, I agree with Uglius. But you should try to fight this, the government is basically trying to take away all of our freedom of expression through copyright laws and the like. There is this new thing called SOPA which is basically internet censorship against EVERYTHING. If we want our videos on youtube, or even forums like this, we have to fight the power!
