Bugged Protection spells?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 12:38 pm

hey i dont know if its just me, seems like it since i havent found anyone else have this problem, but ive been playing for quite a while with pretty much a pure mage character and ever since i first got oakflesh, i didnt really fell like it made a difference, and along the way i met enemy after enemy who would one-hit-kill me with or without oak/stone/iron-flesh. so ive had to scale the difficulty down, cause in the end, unless i could sneak up and backstab them,(yeah, i said "pretty much pure mage" didn't i?) i was dead within three seconds of engaging them. but now that i managed to buy ebonyflesh and found myself face to face with a frostdragon who wasnt that powerful, i decided to test it out. i let him shout a full blast of cold over me, with and without ebonyflesh active, and i lost the exact same amount of health. and yes, i know how to use it. i dont have enough magicka to dualcast it, but i have 2 levels of magearmor perk, and when i go to the inventory screen it says i got a 300 armor rating, so am i doing something wrong? anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried ward spells rather than protection spells?

I doubt armor rating helps against magic... You'd need cold resist for that.

oh thats right, armor rating is for physical damage! but i think i have felt like it doesn't help against that either, but i havent actually did any real testing. i'll get right on it and get back here with my results! :) thx

ok yeah it does indeed work. but i still feel like it doesn't make too much of a difference, ill probably still need to do the hit and run strategy. tried against a spider. 15 damage without ebony, 10 damage with.
