FO1&2: Memory and reality.

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 5:33 pm

I got my hands on FO1 and 2 da,m cheap.
Sadly my memories of these are better then how they feel to play now. :down :
I wonder if PT:Torment or Baldurs Gate would be better, or if I would end up soly that memory too?
That said hunting geckos with a pipe-rifle felt rather nice. Why didnt they implement somthing like that?
Or a zip-gun?

All games that I've had fond memories of playing that I've played again years after have still met my expectations.
So if FO1/2 didn't meet your memories expectation of them then I'm not sure if Planescape, Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale is gonna be much different.
I still love them all though. :bunny:

Indeed, I still play FO 1/2 and Planescape atleast once a year. They're still just as good to me.

Yeah when she go her new computer way back when, I gave her my FO1/2 bundle pack and BG and a few other games to play. Since I have FO2 on a separate disk I can still play it.

Same here... I have most of the Black Isle games, and the ones I have are still installed, and still fantastic. :fallout:

Indeed F1 an F2 were great .. at that time .. It was all different. Those memories are no longer, perhaps because the niggles, accepted at that time and overlooked are not really now acceptable.

That's not true of all old games, far from it, I've played some really-really old games and they remain as good. I had to get a copy from ebay to replay one, System Shock1, it's still great, you could lean round corners and take a shot, had key-pad locks some I have never opened.

Many old games deserve a replay .... if you have the time.

I still play them. Would have been nice to find a pipe rifle in New Vegas.

Both of the originals still feel as good as ever. Except for the fact that I remember almost everything about them, that's what you get for playing them atleast once or twice per year. Wish I could get my memory erased from everything else Fallout except for the knowledge of how good they are and how the game mechanics really work. Waiting for Total Recall...

Heck, I'm a young whipersnapper who got into the series thanks to Fallout 3 and I still preffer the older games.
