The Prima Strategy Guide is Stunning and Amazing

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:04 am

I'm pretty speechless about the guide so far. The crazy amount of information about every item and every everything. Chapters on the Holds start out with a pic and short bio of every important character, every town has maps, every dungeon and cave have maps. There's just SO MUCH GAME here!! I didn't really understand until I saw this. I must have said, "Wow..." ten times. Utterly amazing are the only words I can come up with right now.

BUT THEN THERE'S THE MAP. At the very back, didn't even know it was there until I was about to put the book down because I couldn't take any more amazement. A tear-out 30"x20" map, black background, every sawmill, every grotto, every camp, every ruin, numbered and indexed on the right side. I estimated from the index over 500 locations pinpointed on the map. A map to kill all other maps. Almost worth the price of the book.

Thank you Bethesda and Prima for an outstanding piece of work! :trophy: :trophy: :trophy:

Agreed. The guide is amazing. I'm glad I got the CE. It looks awesome.

I haven't used it for any of my quests or locations. I having fun finding and exploring things on my own. However a buddy has had some miscellaneous questions, and the guide was spot on and detailed in answering them.

I saw the map too, but haven't even torn it out yet. I'm not going to far into the guide until I finish the main quest.

I agree, it's a GREAT guide and I'm so glad I bought the Collector's Edition of it.

Yeah, its great. My only issue with it is that it doesn't really give much aid in the area of giving you tips on how to train stuff like sneak or whatever. Though at the same time, most of those kinds of tips tend to end up being workarounds to avoid training them through actual use as was clearly intended.

But wait there's more!

Thanks Billy.

The guide is pretty neat, I thumbed through it at my local game stop. It is a monster of a book. However in a little bit all that information will be free online.

Please tell me you can get one of these even if one only bought the regular version! My friend visited a game store where he bought the regular version and said they were giving the prima guides away...

I was honestly kind of disappointed in the guide. It is nice and my Collector's Edition looks awesome, but I think they did a better job with the walkthroughs in the Oblivion guide.

I love my CE guide. *hugs book* The only thing I've read extensively is the beginning section, giving all the stats for races and the breakdown guide of 'class' suggestions. I want to play through at least once before using it. I'm sure it will have a TON of stuff I'll miss myself the first time through :)

I have to disagree with the original poster.

It is just an average guide.

My Gamestop still hasn't received my guide, which I prepaid in full in advance.

Just try Amazon, or do what I did and try your local Barnes & Noble. They had ONE CE in stock on 11/11, but that one was all I needed! :celebration:

I got mine from Amazon for $20.16. Today, even though I ordered it in October and it was shipped on the 8th.

I wish everyone would stop buying these strategy guides that way the publishers would have to put pertinent info back into the game manual.

The bigger you make the game manual the bigger you need to make the box that holds the game. You will never again get a game manual that is over 10 -12 pages. I'm just guessing at what size Skyrim's is but I don't think I've seen one bigger.

It's all about getting it as small as possible to fit in the box and then of course they use other absurd reasons for not making one at all.

I agree, there's a LOT of stuff absent from the game manual that I need to know.

I like to read about the place I'm going and get a layout of the town by memorizing the map - I'm a map person. I've been very disoriented and lost and this is why. I've never played without maps before. And I don't read about quests unless I get stuck, and then only to find out what my last step should have been. :)

Yes, the most lengthy game book ever made is just an "average" guide.
