Ah, Morrowind.

The point is a comparison of how things change. Shops used to be unique and have tangible items, other then now where it's kept in a secret portal somewhere.

The OP doesn't compare Morrowind to Skyrim. It's just random reminiscing that has no place in the Skyrim section.

I miss the days when you could find the entire shop inventory in a chest then go next door and sell it. Or kill him and steal everything, then sell it.

I don't miss stealing a diamond from Nalcarya, and having every diamond I get after that, even the ones I buy, marked as stolen by Nalcarya.

If you want to talk about Morrowind, you're in the wrong forum. If you want to compare Morrowind systems and Skyrim, then please get on topic. Discussing only Morrowind isn't on topic for this forum.

Hes hoping that Skyirm also had this kind of stuff. Hes simply not saying it straightforward.

I doubt its that we miss Morrowind. Its that we hope that Skyrim featured things and had the qualities Morrowind did.

I think Skyrim could really benefit from a lot of stuff Morrowind had in it. (I only played Morrowind recently.. about a year ago.) Of course, I don't miss the combat animations or really anything about the graphics, even with the extender.. but the quests seemed to have more back story (out of necessity).

I could understand why Morrowind fans miss a lot of their features being implemented in a new game. Telling people to go back and look at the graphically dated game and observe the limitations of years past doesn't really make much sense to me. Ideas of the past can still work well in a new, pretty game.

For example, can someone present a reason why shop keepers wouldn't have their inventory IN the game world? To me, it's not about what some call "realism", it's about making sense. It makes absolutely no sense why it would be hidden off the map. Hard to get to, all items marked as stolen, and so forth I can understand, but inaccessible? Really? That's right up there with essential NPCs, instead of NPCs that are only killed when you kill them.

Didnt watch the entire thing but thats pretty much the wrong way around. I'd want Skyrim's graphics, gameplay mechanics and animations but Morrowind's detail, depth and complexity.

I 'diss' Morrowind, and I played it A LOT. It has not aged well, at all. It's a pile of guff compared to lots of games nowadays.

Seriously, go play Morrowind and get over it. No one cares about how you feel about your epic game.

Actually with mods, Morrowind still looks amazing, although in this day and age you do have to heavily mod it to force your mind to forget about The Witcher2 and BF3 standards.

Well, what can you spect from a thread created by an argonian slave ? That was the best thing of morrowind: Argonians lizard-faces and kajiits cat-faces , slaves as they should be.

It's actually making me develop a bit of a grudge towards Morrowind, to be quite honest.

I love Morrowind to death, but the Morrowind elitists that are coming out of the wood works are tainting the greatness of that game for me.

I agree 100% It's getting to the point that I feel embarrassed posting about it.

They nearly put me off playing Morrowind in the first place. Glad they didn't as I thoroughly enjoyed it, but all this blathering about it is getting to be a bit much.

Haha, that's the problem with discussing ANYTHING about a game on a forum. When someone talks about how things could be more realistic, people complain about it ruining the fun. Then someone mentions how something could be more fun, then people complain about how it would ruin the realism. Then there's the whole "fantasy" aspect. The truth is, there are going to be people who complain about ANYTHING that is said. But hey, better have have complete freedom of speech than to have none at all, right? And yes, that includes the freedom to complain and even to complain about the complaining :-P

But as for realism, I would say it's a mixed bag. Skyrim has more realism when it comes to graphics, sound, combat, physics, atmosphere, etc. Morrowind takes the advantage in skills, variety of weapons, clothing/armor options, dialogue choices (though not nearly as much as Daggerfall), and city size, just as a short list. I must confess, though, that I think it's Morrowind's lack of realism in its atmosphere that made it special. Oblivion and Skyrim just feel TOO real in their landscapes to give that "magical" feeling.

Ps. Also, Morrowind was MUCH more realistic concerning level scaling. A level 1 character was easy pickings when first off the boat, while a level 50 character was incredibly powerful. In my opinion, that's the way it should be.
