1 Character Only?

You don't have to do anything in windows. Press the tilde key to bring up the command line. The type 'save savegamename' without the quotation marks. Thesavegamename is whatever you want it to be.

Kpac77 hit the nail on the head for PC users.

I don't use anything but this and quicksave now.

if youre on PC if you hit console (~) and do save "name" it will save the game as that name. i think, at least it did that in oblivion.

Your characters name is on the save file at least it is on the 360 , use a different name for each character .

Why not make save games character specific??!

If i make a mage i dont want to mix up the saves with my warrior or stealth or whatever character...

This is the only thing i really hate about this game. I have over 200 saves and over 10 differnet characters... Why cant the game keep track of the saves for me?!

Easy fix? and ppl have been asking for it since morrowind or even earlier... Damn these console ports..

Just a note, lots of console games have profile/character style saving that let's you differentiate much easier. It's a bit of a pain, but not worth my frustration in the long run.

I use a trick:

For one character I always look at the sky while saving. For the other character I look at the ground. This way it's easy to identify which save slots correspond to which characters.

What a brilliant idea, I'm going to start doing that from now on. Don't know why it didn't occur to me before!

Bethesda doesn't learn from past mistakes which is why they can't improve the way we save our games. You'll have to compensate by being overly cautious with your clicks as you save and load files.

I mean seriously, it'd be nice if we could create a character and saves would differentiate themselves automatically......but at the very least why can't we label our saves? I mean, wtf...

I already made four characters. My male werewolf is level 11, my female werewolf level 10 and my male vampire is level 11/2. My female vampire is level 4.

I play them back to back.

It's not the console's fault that you can't have different sections for different characters, it's Bethesda being lazy again.

The saves are very obviously labeled by the name of your character, the date, and amount of play time you have on it. What more do you want?

Actually you can find every save you have ever had through your explorer. Just look for the saved games directory for skyrim and bam there they all are. I have seen some people who believe they lost there old saves but that ia not the case, you just need to know where to look.
Edited for spelling.
Note: this is for pc version i'm not sure about console.

This, here is the good news Oblivion took backup of the autosave and quicksave file so a trip to \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\ and rename autosave.bak to autosave.ess would usualy solve the problem.
In skyrim they have one quicksave and three autosaves, all of them has backups.

I can't respond to this because it would be an obvious personal attack which is against the rules. Let me see... Hmm, how about a better way to label and personalize our save files so they are easier to find? Are you going to remember what date and time you played on and search through 20+ save files just to find it? No, your argument is dumb

Bethesda needs to give us some Mass Effect and Dragon Age character slots.....

Especially on a game where you will most likely have 50 characters.
