Keep saves when upgrading from original release to GOTY?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:05 pm

I have played through Fallout 3 (the original release as a DVD-ROM) on my PC. I now have bought the Game Of The Year Edition at EB (DVD-ROM), for the expansion modules included with it.

Is it possible to continue playing with my endgame character in the expansions?

How do the expansions work? Do new areas appear in the game world?

Do I have to re-install the game from the new disk?

Since F3 doesn't use DRM, I wanted to play the expansions using the new disk, and gift the original disk to a friend.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

All you need is to punch in disc 2 and install the expansions. Then, open Fallout 3 Launcher (or mod manager if you use mods), and through "Data" make sure the game loads the expansions.

Your save should work as usual.

Thanks! I didn't know how to turn on email notification on this board, so I totally missed your reply until now.

Cool avatar, by the way. :-)

Ciao.
