Ways to improve Fallout 3

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:47 pm

I think that after Bethesda finishes Skyrim and Prey 2, they should go back to Fallout 3 and improve on some problems and add new things, based on what fan review. Like iron sights, hardcoe mode, weapon attachments, and finishing moves(like in Skyrim). What do you think they should add and fix?

They'll never go back to Fallout 3.

The games too old and like Papafern said, New Vegas has everything you mentioned. The Fallout 3 modding community takes care of those same things as well too.

I don't have a gaming PC and I think that the game isn't that old . Personally I think it would be good for Bethesda to get back to their greatest game(in my opinion) and make it better, considering Bungie just re-released Halo CE again, and it would be very easy for them to do a patch for it adding those things considering that they already have the animations and game mechanics/engines so it wouldn't be a waste of money what so ever, to hire 5 programers to implement these things into their game within a couple hours time. Not to mention I think it would be awesome to be able to sneak easier and come up behind a raider and knock them out with a weapon's butt-stock. It would be very easy for Bethesda to add a melee button to a controller that would allow you to do that. I'm sorry for ranting, that is how I am, just start rambling. Guess I just didn't want to spend a thousand dollars on a gaming PC and sixty on a game I already have. But I suppose your right, if Bethesda really cared about their game and it's fans they would have done it long ago. Wishful thinking though.

Relatively speaking, the game isn't that old. But as far as the general gaming community is concerned, Fallout 3 is off the radar and quite a few eyebrows would be raised if Bethesda decided to go back to Fallout 3 for some reason. Mainly because there isn't many people still playing it on the XBOX 360 (well there is still people, but not many like yourself who want new content for it).

First and foremost, the focus is on Skyrim now. Secondly, there is still a few problems with New Vegas that could be addressed and it would make more sense for them to update or change New Vegas (which they have stated they are also done with). So it would be a rather bad decision for them to ignore New Vegas and go back to a game they haven't touched in years.

Then of course, the announcement for Fallout 4 is more than likely drawing closer.

Yeah...I suppose your right. I just thought it would be nice for people on the console to have access to the mods of the PC community. Like I said I just thought it wouldn't matter to have 5 people working on a patch in an hour or two, considering they the content already, and it would not cost much. Just trying to save money in a tough economy. You know? Do you have the PC version? Are there mods that make sneaking better and add finishing/stealth attack animations? If so are they really good? I have been thinking about buying a gaming computer but it costs a lot. Oh, well can't have it all, can we?

I can sympathize with your plight, but its just a rather unlikely thing to happen. Your best bet is to wait for Fallout 4.

Even a small patch adding things to Fallout 3 is almost out of the question, because then the immediate response from quite a few people would be "Hey! My New Vegas game is still screwing up! Wtf? Why fix Fallout 3?"

Yes I do have a PC version, but actually I don't believe there is any mods related to that. If you are referring to animations like those seen in Skyrim, then no. There might be a few mods which change some minor animation details things, but ultimately nothing major.

The reason of course being, that Skyrim is simply on a different, upgraded engine. And the same sorts of attack animations seen there can't be replicated with Gambryo (the engine Fallout 3 and New Vegas use and which has been around since Oblivion).

Most of my mods are focused on joining certain factions (such as the Enclave). Although http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE0VeHZKpIo, are certainly possible (and awesome). Mods are really the only reason I'm able to still play Fallout 3 after all this time.

Please excuse my stupidity, but there is a possibility that said animations that happen in Skyrim could possibly be used in Fallout 4 someway? Is that what you said , and are there mods that make sneaking better?

Certainly, I have no doubt that Skyrim's engine will be the same one used for Fallout 4 (so yes, the same sorts of animations). And more than likely it will be slightly improved and updated to reflect animations involved with Fallout's weaponry (guns, explosives etc.).

As for mods that make sneaking better, there isn't any that I know of.

Thanks for answering, but I still get updates for the game, is there a difference between a patch and an update? And I hear of people who "j-tag" there consoles, what does that mean? Will it then accept mods like the primary needs, and iron sights(if you couldn't tell, I'm really interested in this)I'm sorry for all these questions, I am very new to blogging in general and computers in general.

JTag means when you get caught, you get so [censored] up the ass you poo from your ears. Those people are hackers/mods who generally ruin online games for everyone with their excessive advertising of YouTube and their lack of death when shot/knifed/blown up and tend to fly around the map phasing through walls and creating slowmotion events and general lagginess in the game. I HATE these people :flame:
JTagging will render your xbox untouchable by almost anyone for microsoft so you can't ever get it repaired by them, if you send it to them and they find its been JTagged I think they can press charges (Unsure about that but I'm sure its in the Terms & Conditions somewhere).
You can get mods onto your xbox without the need for JTagging, you need a gamesave from the internet, which you then put on a USB and install on the xbox. The mods for Xbox Fallout compared to PC aren't as vast but their are some here and there, I have never tried them but have seen them in actions.

This, i have it on pc and can say i will never buy a bethesda game on console again. Just because of the mods. You really dont know what your missing, take a look at fo3 nexus to see some of the mods we have available, just to try and convince you to join the dark side... http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/top/alltime.php

Bungie just re-released Halo CE again.

They just re-released it, not again.

And that was 343 Industries, not Bungie.

The main problem with Fallout 3 was the fact that it was hard to make multiple characters distinct.
-Dialogue options the only real defining factor for "smart" characters (Besides hacking)
-Lack of decent dialogue options (I have to sound immature to Amata at the "good" ending to Trouble on the Home front, or be goody-two shoes "Oh Ok"?)
-Forced to join B.O.S. (Made my character who I was going for a Imperial Guard-like mindset awkward, was not wanting a low-tech Spehss Mehreen)
-Inability to join the Enclave
-Despite the existence of Neutral Karma, there was too much of a basis of it resulting in balancing out black and white decisions.
-Inability to join the Outcasts
-Inability to join the Regulators
-Inability to join the Talon Company
-Becoming a "god" around level 17)

...Aaand there goes the thread. Discussion of modding consoles isn't allowed.

-Inability to join the Outcasts

This is actually a bug. Not one to praise myself but I was the first one to notice this, fixed it and released it as http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16554 no sooner than two and half years (I think) after the game was released.
In a nutshell, the Outcasts do have friendly, praising dialogue for meeting the player but the condition for using these dialogues is wrong.
They are surprisingly polite.

And the core game itself includes the process of actually joining, as Casdin gives you Outcast power armor and no longer confiscates it if in your inventory when talking to him (as he does prior to being trusted)

Let's not discuss ways of adding user made mods to an XBox, it is not a permitted subject on these forums.

Return to Fallout 3
