Should i get Fallout 3 GOTY?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:58 am

Well basically i decided to re-visit Fallout 3 for the past week, im at the final mission i believe its called "Take it back!" Well I've never really ran into any serious problems but only maybe 3 freezes and my save file is a small 5.5 MB. Well i am considering buying the GOTY edition even though i have the regular edition. But i have read that there are several issues with the GOTY edition which kind of makes me uneasy a bit. Basically the GOTY edition goes for $30 new and in the PSN store all DLC's added up together equal around $50 or so. So i thought i might as well get the disk GOTY edition. What are your opinions?

I'm not sure of your problem, but you should be able to buy the expansions seperately, so you need not rebuy the vanilla game.

And they are good. Broken Steel will allow you continue with your same character, while the others give some extra fun.

The disc fo3 goty is bugged to hell, mainly in the dlc's, i got 6 hard lock ups once in half a hour playing using that disc. So i would just buy them off the store. I use pc now which owns all of them.

I have similar question since I am coming back to Fallout; how do expansions actually work? Are they expansion which means its like additional zone so I would go to the new zone or it is like separate story/game which is not necessary tied to Fallout 3? If i choose to play expansion would i start in Vault where I need to escape?

With the DLCs you start the game normally and there are additions to the base game that lead you to them (Point Lookout adds a riverboat that you can purchase a ticket on to travel to Point Lookout and the Pitt adds a train tunnel you take all of the way to the Pitt (Pittsburgh)), except for Broken Steel which adds to the main story.

So they are pretty seperate but you reach them from the base game.

It has not been too bad for me (a couple of hiccups here and there).

I think they are probally all equally buggy, I just think some PS3 users get worse things than others.

I think that seem people just tend to completely ignore the fact that bugs exist on their platform if they don't have them.

Why the PS3 hate? I have F3 goty on PS3 and have had no problems with my 40 hour character. Screw buying the expansions off the store. For the £7 you pay for point lookout alone you can buy the hard copy of the goty version for that.

I have played 150+ hours on PS3 with only a handful of problems.
