Used to be questing and adventuring because they went hand in hand. Now it's just adventuring and I ignore a lot of quests.

I know Morrowind and Oblivion didn't have much of it, but it is the big dungeon Crawliing that I like best about the TES series. Arena, Daggerfall and Skyrim are the best TES games, because of the big dungeon crawls.

It has to be the freedom. Love most quests and exploring too.

I used to like the combination of Risk/Reward, before they removed that by excessive scaling. Now it's just the freedom.

I put characters, but I assume that means creating and defining our character and not the NPC's because they're pretty terrible.

It's the setting. Not the physical landscapes (although those tend to be nice as well), but the history and the feel of going into a real society, with real people. I suppose "characters" would be the closest to that, though it doesn't necessarily show up in-game so much as in the backstory.

Freedom and storyline combined :P I don't think I would like the freedom so much if there wasn't a story behind everything, but I wouldn't like the lore if I wasn't free to do whatever I want. With both you choose what you like to know more about

The world. The Elder Scrolls' lore, the ruins, the different races, etc. just draws me in. I love exploring and then stumbling upon some random bit of an old tower or building.
