I'm pretty sure that I stumbled upon an Enclave camp. This is when i first played ever so I didn't know the Enclave hated me, wondered on in, and they released the Kraken, which most likely killed me.

As an Enclave supporter I find that satisfyingly hilarious.

Good to see that on occasion the Enclave can be deadly in Fallout 3.

my first playthrough when i got the game i was exploring and wondered into Old Olney the Deathclaw scared the [censored] out of me and my dinky 10mm didnt do anything to it...needlesss to say it knocked my head off...i didnt go back until i had Power Armor, Fawkes and a Gatling Laser.

I was down near the Dunwich Building, then a Deathclaw jumped out of nowhere. I'd seen Deathclaws before in New Vegas, and since I knew FO3 had random encounters, I had a Flamer & a Missile Launcher with me to deal with the boss-like squad attacking Deathclaws that could appear out of nowhere since this was FO3. Turns out, this one was alone, and it died to 5 shots from a Scoped .44 Magnum

My first real Deathclaw encounter was in New Vegas, and it involved a pants-soiling sequence of fire and maneuver in Quarry Junction. This was exacerbated by the Deathclaws basically ignoring my weapons if I didn't sneak kill them. That said, my first real terrifying encounter was with a Giant Radscorpion. Those things scared me more than Deathclaws for the the first two playthroughs...

I left Vault 101, headed over the hill beside it and died. L.v 1/2 people with a 10mm pistol can do nothing againist that !!!!
Though it was a random thing and was replaced with mole rats/bloatflies on other playthroughs, had a yao-guai once.

I was wandering along minding my own buisness when a red blip appeared on my radar i turned to face the threat just as a deathclaw launched itself at me.
It was truly one of those moments where i jumped out my seat and sh*t myself.

P.S. The deathclaw owned me

Sneaking about some camping site north of Dunwich Building, and knocked out a few molerats. There were other red blips on the marker, but I thought I'd go check out the little tent or vehicle by the campsite first. While peeking in there I hear footsteps behind me getting louder, and think that perhaps that molerat is a bit faster and louder than they normally are, and maybe I should kill it instead of letting it blindside me. I turn round while squatting, baseball bat readied, and there's this HUGE monster right in front of me with a HUGE claw roaring and as I get a heart attack the claw slashes across my monitor, and suddenly everything goes slow motion, and I fall down to the ground in one hit.

My second deathclaw was unfortunate to meet me in town, near Arlington Library, and got blocked by some road barriers. As he tried to get around I pumped him full of 5.56mm until he died, and darn did that exorcise a ton of ghosts.

First time I went to Super Duper Mart. The random encounter there was of course the most deadly one.

Hmmm... That would have to have been the Deathclaw caves near the Hub [In Fallout 1].

*In FO3... My first encounter was with one in streets of DC near the canol; Thing chased me into one of those 'phone-booth' Fallout shelters.

I was fighting a giant ant near Megaton when a deathclaw came out of nowhere and killed me before I knew what had happened.

Same for me but alas, we are in Fallout 3 forum now.

While I was walking around Alexandria Arms and a Deathclaw appears at the front door. I shot it twice with my dart gun and ran like hell towards the river. Did you know that Deathclaws can't swim? Especialy when BoS troops are shooting at one. :celebration:

I think my first time was at the Super Duper Mart as well, the raiders had already fallen and there was a guy fighting it until the barely alive Deathclaw managed to kill him despite my best effort to keep him alive, I got a free schematic though

I found one fighting with a wastelander. I'd been warned about them by someone I work with, and I expected to be set on by the Most Horrific Thing Ever ™.

Instead it just stood there, and we just shot it. This was a bit disappointing given the huge build-up it had had.

The wastelander told me it had killed his friend, but I couldn't see a body. Then I looked down to see that I was standing on a dismembered pelvis.

The first time I saw a deathclaw was from a distance on flat ground. I tried to back away but it saw me. Threw everything I had at it but it closed the distance fast. When it lunged I tried to sidestep, but changed directions mid-dodge in panic. That was the end of it.

My first Deathclaw was also at Super-Duper Mart.

I wandered down from Megaton and saw a wastelander cowering by the bus, turned the corner and was face to face with the Deathclaw. I only got a few 10mm rounds off before he felled me. That was my first time playing the game.

Went bobblehead hunting, Deathclaw Sanctuary... The horrific maze and deathclaws was unbearable.
