The end sequence

Ok, just finished the game.

I decieded to follow in Dad's footsteps and do the noble heroic thing by sacrificing myself rather than forcing Sarah Lyons to die doing the job.

I had Fawkes with me and somehow he got into the chamber with me but I thought, meh, that's in keeping with the game. Anyway, after entering the code and watching the screen fade out, it seems that somehow my Lone wanderer survived and lived to fight another day, according to the narration speech given by Ron Pearlman.

My theory is this:

if Fawkes was with you in the chamber, and because he's reletively immune to high levels of radiation, he somehow manages to get you out of the chamber and saves your life.

Perhaps this is something the developers may have secretly factored in hmm? A way to save Project Purity and live to tell the tale!

Or perhaps its just a bug? :embarrass:

For my 2 caps worth, Tal Aureliano lived and is eagerly awaiting the next installment of adventures in the wastelands!

I'd say that it's a bug since that's not supposed to happen.

It depends, hmm, what exactly was said at the very end? Did it say you were a coward and let a real hero die or did it show you dragged out of the chamber? If you did survive and saved everyone with this end sequence, it could have been meant as an Easter egg rather than a bug. Its fascinating nonetheless, I also would try to do it again.

I took the option of "I'll do it..." etc and entered the rad flooded chamber.

Fawkes followed me into the chamber. Whether he is supposed to or not I don't know.

I'll replay that sequence again later today to see if it was a bug or something else.

Right, I've repeated the end sequence a number times and have had mixed results.

The times I've walked into the chamber and somehow when I look around, Fawkes seems to appear next to me so I'm thinking that this is definately a bug. Of those 3 endings I got a repeat of the first ending once where it appears I didn't die but ther next two it's quite clear that I did bite the bullet so it seems that there is no easter egg there after all :sadvaultboy:

I did speak to Fawkes about him going into the chamber but he says its my own destiny however due to the follower bug which seems to 'port them next to you, he ends up in the chamber with me?
Weird. :shakehead:

Anyway, my gut instrict is that the first time I ended it it tripped into the ending where you let purity go boom [I saw the graphic of the memorial in flames and ruined] however I still got the narration that the wastelands were saved etc. Very odd.

I've patched up my game and have tried all 3 alternatives now and it appears to be working normally, ie; as it should, either you go in & die, Lyons does or you let the place go nova.

Either way, my belief is that the end will remain the same for DLC like Op. Anchoridge, the Pitt & Broken Steel in that even though the level cap will be raised and a new areas will be incorporated, the endgame will be project purity.

No sneaky way out folks, :shocking: it's happy glow time & eternal glory or let Sarah take the credit.
