Having actual working bookcases in this game gave me a case of the child-at-Christmas-time-giggles. To my great dismay, after traveling the many caverns and dangerous roads in a search for all the books I could gather, carefully putting them in alphabetical order, I discovered your bookcases can become bugged and permanently devour your books. Not only will it eat your books but it will prevent you from placing anymore down, permanently occupying a space on the shelf!
This tragic, game experience shattering bug *sarcasm* - (The only fault I have found in Skyrim is it causes me to neglect reality in a dangerous manner akin to black tar heroin.) however hasn't kept me from twice over hunting down all the books I can find and reading them. I highly recommend you take the time to read some of the work writers put into this game. The books are as gripping as the various storylines. Seriously. Stop decapitating imperials for a second, the fire the dragon is spitting on you will only hurt temporarily, and that foot race you're having with the mountain goat isn't all that important. Read the books in this game.
Disaster at Ionith is my first recommendation. It's more a recount of an Imperial expansionist maneuver. Great, great writing.
