Hmmm, this happens to me too, in fact sometimes it'll melee more than once when I'm shooting someone and I ultimately end up losing the gunfight, I know for a fact that I'm not clicking in the stick; that being said.. I think I might try a different controller although this has never been a problem for me before in any other shooter. After I try using another controller, also I may try switching to the alternative button layout and see if the issue still occurs.

For me, it seems to melee instead of shooting when the enemy is running at me(getting closer) and I am standing still trying to fire. then the guy stops and fires, killing me. All other instances of shooting an enemy, in the back, etc is fine. Since the patch, melee shooting has gotten more frequent as well.

I know I'm not pressing the stick down when I do it and it happens with three diff controllers one brand popping new. I have tested it with my hand off the right stick, when an enemy is rushing me at least half the time I will random melee. When I am rushing an enemy same thing and it's gotten worse since the patch. I think it really may be related to connection issues as I don't have the best connection in the world.

And before you call me newb and crap like that I have been playing since release day and it didn't happen at first but now it's gotten almost out of control.

I have it happen also. It's not frequent, but does exist.

My experience was this only happened with my old controller. I'm on my 5th+ Microsoft controller so wanted to try something else. Bought the Razer onza TE and Jesus happened. Best controller ever and no more melee problems. Was I pressing it accidentally? I don't know but I don't have the problem now.

My settings:
Alternate Lefty
LT-Fires weapon *throws c-4*
RT-Aims Weapon *detonates c-4*
RS-crouch
B-melee (re-mapped on my ONZA as "RMFB")
All other buttons same

The reason I switched to this is now I can be in stealth, aim in, and switch to armor in fluid motion w/o taking aim off to turn armor on.

Once again, my experience. Yours may vary =)

This is the most absurd thread on this forum.

Stop pressing the right-anolog stick in a fight and you won't melee. If you did some test then please let us know how you did this because I bet you if I did the same test then I wouldn't melee while firing.

THIS IS A NEWB mistake, just learn to play the game and you won't have this problem. This is as bad as the newbs that run around in armor mode all game and then keep getting owned then blame it on lag lolz It is not a newb mistake because this is the only game i have EVER done this in, and I have played a lot of shooters. Obvious example COD. just because you dont experience the problem, does not mean others dont. I have never had the grain glitch but I dont go round posting that its not a problem because i dont experience it. if you dont have the problem and have nothing positive to post on this 'absurd' thread, then dont bother at all. P.S. I really like this game.

I have this problem too, but to be honest I tend to flick the stick when I'm in a hurry, this causes the melee while shooting.

I have tried other controller layouts but they don't work for me, so I think it would be a good idea if while shooting, i.e. hammer down the melee button was disabled, that way melee could only happen when our fingers are off the trigger.
