Besthesda, Are you Kidding Me?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 7:29 pm

You know, not only did I preorder this game, but I went to the Midnight Release. Now tell me, is it fair for someone to get a game technically before it even rightfully launches and not be able to play it for more than 1 day. Apparently Bethesda thinks it's fair. Bethesda thinks it's fair to make the copy of the game for one system unplayable (ps3) then attempt a hand at a patch that won't be released for another week. Now us ps3 users have to wait an entire week to play "Skyrim" while xbox 360 users are enjoying their copy. Does this sound like a company that deserves to have one of their games rendered as Game of the Year. Answer: Hell no. And I just simply made this post to ask: Why Besthesda? Why make such good copies for BOTH pc and xbox, but have such game breaking issues on the ps3. and then to top it off, make a patch for these problems to release so late. Accident, doubtful. Done purposely, maybe. Could I sue for not being able to play a game that I paid 60 bucks for when I want to, more than likely no, but I am actually looking into that right now. Either way, i would just prefer an answer from a Besthesda Executive or something. Cause right now and until this is either settled in court or some other manner in which this game becomes playable for my ps3, I am quite pissed.

Sidenote: I honestly never imagined a gaming company to screw people over like all those other big industry companies. I guess I have seen that even gamers/geeks or whatever you want to call them can as well be [censored]s too. lol.

Have you thought about returning it?

There are issues on PC as well trust me, there will be a patch released soon that should sort out the game. Is it wrong for a game to be released before it is ready.... yes, but in a game as large as this problems have to be expected it's just unfortunate.

Sidenote:

I find your last comment unnecessary

But see, Bethesda declared a date for the patch, so at least they have something to be held accountable to.

If it was Obsidian they would have kept silent for months and released 4 patches that don't work before giving up completely. You mad, Fallout: New Vegas?

It doesn't matter whether you found it unnecessary or not. It's the flat out truth. People, no matter what kind of people they are, act in the same exact behaviors. This is just a prime example. And no, i can't return it for full price, so eventually (more than likely it will not be successfull whatsoever) i will be sueing for a larger price. By the way, I'm pretty sure pc users aren't facing the issue of give or take 1 to 5 frames a second. Bottom line, you can still play your game, i can't.

Why not? Every game store I know of will take a game back at full price if it isn't working. Where did you get it? Also, there are plenty of PC users who are unable to play the game. Some are reporting issues on top end cards limiting them to three FPS. Yes, three (3). And on what grounds will you be looking for more money? I have a feeling you'll lose the case miserably. You should sue the retailers for selling you faulty goods, not the developer for selling them faulty goods. You'd stand a better chance.

Some PC gamers can't play the game at all, let alone 1-5 fps. Their game crashes to the desk top before they can even start.

The point is Bethesda are trying to address the issue as fast as possible. The next patch has already been submitted for clearance and will be out after thankgiving. The game will be sorted soon

I'm sorry, since when are you an experienced game developer? You can't just snap your fingers at bugs and make them vanish.

Just to point out; Damages awarded in court will only be equivalent to injuries / damage caused to the plaintiff. To get anything above and beyond a refund of the purchase price you will have to prove that the issues with the game have caused you genuine harm. The Defendant cannot be held accountable for any extra costs that you may have incurred, such as taking time off work to play the game, etc.

Thought I would mention it before you go and commit yourself to any sort of legal fees :)

@pattie345, a week isn't fast. And i got my game from gamestop, they said they would sell it to me for 30 bucks and no I am going for Bethesda. I got a couple of lawyers in my family and quite a few connections to other people that could help me with this. Either way, i'd rather not talk about the lawsuit until it is actually in its process. I just made this topic to let out a little frustration and to get a few answers from the staff of bethesda themselves.

That's strange. Gamestop has always given me a full refund if a game I purchased didn't work.

Either way, good luck with taking a large company to court over 60 bucks.

A week is very fast, it takes time to find and fix bugs and Bethesda have worked very quickly to try and fix the issues.

You won't get any answers from any staff here they wouldn't be stupid enough to say anything with your threat of legal action...... which is pointless anyway

It definitely svcks that the game is broken for you, but I think you're overreacting a bit when you hint that they may have done it purposefully. Why on Earth would they do that? They're a business after all, and it will only hurt sales (I know a few PS3 users who waited to see how it would run due to past issues on that console and now they've decided not to buy). And it hurts their reputation in the long run - they're already known for not developing good PS3 ports.

So, what is this bug you speak of? And no I'm not being snarky or sarcastic, I'm curious as to what bug you're encountering because you evidently have not made that much clear. PC is having it's fair share of problems (nice CTD every 2 or so hours) but i'm not going to town and drinking up a storm over it.

PS3 < XBOX < PC.

Get a real gaming system my friend, not a dying one. You're contemplating whether Bethesda PURPOSELY made the PS3 version svck? Are you kidding? why would a game company that strives to make the best games it can and relies on good customer feedback make a game purposely bad?

Also, you do realize suing someone because your game is bugged (and is getting patched in a week) is downright [censored] and you'll just get laughed at, right?

@TwistedBlack If i was a game developer kid, there wouldn't be bugs or glitches in any copies lol. And I'd make damned sure of it no matter how long it takes. Of course, better said than done, but i'd rather suffer the hardships of all the testing and bug-tweaks than the people that are chipping out cash for a product that should be up to the expectations of what they are paying for while my fat butt is making money off of it.

Like i said, this is stupid and pretty annoying in that matter. A week is an extremely long time when i'm looking at videos of my friends and other xbox/pc players playing this game that i have been waiting for so long. So yes, i do have the right to be frustrated and i honestly don't see how other people aren't. You say they aren't intentionally doing this, but why were almost every single previous bethesda title on ps3 such bad ports? To that fact, why haven't they figured out how to fix this problem?
