Magicka regen bonuses do work in combat

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 7:33 am

I'm really getting tired of people spreading misinformation about enchantments on this forum. I've heard numerous people state that magicka regen bonuses don't work in combat, and I decided to test it out for myself. I initiated combat with a wolf, used a few spells to drain my magicka, and let it recharge without wearing any regen gear. It recovered very slowly. I then equipped my Archmage Robes, a custom necklace and Morokei for plus 250% regen, and sure enough, my magicka began to regenerate much faster.

I think people are getting confused because Magicka regenerates slower in combat overall. The same goes for Stamina. Seriously, test it out for yourself. The regen bonuses are vital for continuous spellcasting in combat.

I guess it's easy to start believing in such rumors when so many repeat them. I myself in my ignorance even told my friend who is playing a mage that the regeneration does not work. Will call him as soon as possible I guess so that he doesn't go selling his robes or anything :P (and I guess I should start testing if what I'm told is actually correct too, heck I may even just do this test myself to confirm if what you're saying is correct, but I very much doubt you are not correct since you're usually correct),

Yeah, unless this is a bug that is only affecting certain people. Once you get above 100% regen, the difference is very noticeable, and anyone who doesn't believe me should test it for themselves.

I'm pretty sure my magicka regeneration decreases when i'm in combat. There is a very noticable change here, especially since i'm running a mage.

There's proof, too:

It is working, but just extremely slowly where I would have to sit on a rock and wait for it to regen while the enemy couldn't reach me.

Just used a console command to increase the regen rate and that made it much more fun and still challenging.

Magic regen is pointless at the current rate. I would rather enchant everything with extra magic.

You misunderstood the original post. This is probably how such rumours get started :)

Yes, you're right Sandovale, my bad. There was no clarification if the regen in combat is the same as the out-of-combat one though, so i got the impression he was talking about full regen.

I don't see why it regenerates slowly, magic is weak enough already compared to other options. This basically forces you to enchant to get 0% magicka consumption.
