What the heck?

Is this the spot to post this? Not sure, but since it has quest spoilers, I figured so.

Took my sneaky wood elf into Memorial Cave today to get rid of Seridur the secret vampire, and while stealthily approaching him, the Skeleton Champion also wandering around looking for me turned and attacked him! He killed Seridur easily, I got the quest update giving me credit for it, I killed the skeleton, and carried on with my quest. Weird...I don't usually see things like that... My game has pretty much always run as expected, but it was nice and saved me a few arrows.

That is odd considering they are both of the same "faction".

That is a strange glitch.

Even two NPCs or Creatures of the same faction can attack each other if they (accidiently) hit each other in battle. I've seen that with Legionnaires. But I don't see how Siedor could have attacked the skeleton since he doesn't turn hostile until he gives his "evil villain" speech.

I guess maybe the disposition or hostility values for the skeleton glitched, or it got an outlying value that rarely happens. In which case it was probably hostile to everything. Just a grumpy skeleton.

Actually Seridur is not of the Undead faction, which is exactly why he was attacked.
It isn't a glitch, but an oversight.

This looks like the right answer. From the wiki:

Because Seridur is not part of the Vampire faction, the undead occupants of Memorial Cave will not identify him as an ally, and are very likely to attack him on sight. (The other vampires and wolves are less likely to be hostile towards Seridur, because he is at least part of the Creature faction

I guess that's why he's in a small part of the cave by himself. I guess they did that so he wouldn't be attacked when in the imperial city. But then I guess they could have easily made two versions, one for the IC and one for the Cave.
