Anyone know when mods are coming to consoles?

Topic. Mostly because I want a good user-generated Destruction rebalancing, and I've seen a few, but I know that there are many other awesome things available on PC.

They won't.

They are only available for the PC version and then it's 'user created' content.

You will get Downloadable Conent for the console but if you want to mess with the way the game works you'll need to get a copy for the PC.

By the time you've had a good few goes in "Skyrim" a PC copy probably won't be that dear.

They never have and they most likely never will. Source? Shouldn't you be the one providing a source saying that they are coming to the consoles?

LOL.

You new to gaming?

When have you EVER been able to create user made content for console games? (Besides the odd game that comes with a map editor)

It's never going to happen Microsoft would want to make money off of it, Bethesda to probably also they might have to end up paying the people that made the content some of the money as well. Maybe some legal stuff to to much of a hassle

uhh... 10-20 years maybe, perhaps... not likely. the console version is the safe couch comfort version. the PC version is the risky, incompatibility-filled realm of mods. consoles arent getting mods until a serious reform in design and publisher philosophy.

Excuse me? I thought it was old news that Beth wanted to bring mods to consoles, and that the only trouble was that they wanted it secure. This is supposed to be common knowledge, folks. Anyway, simple Google magic:

From a discussion with Pete: http://8bitplayground.com/2011/10/05/skyrim-modding-on-consoles-bethesdas-pete-hines-discusses-possibilities/

I can't believe people have to call me out on this

wanting to bring them to the console doesn't mean they will be able to bring them the console's, it has to go through microsoft and they have the final say

It's not about what Beth want; it's about what Sony and Microsoft want. And they don't want mods.

But those articles don't confirm anything other than the fact that "We'd like mods on the X-Box, but we're not sure if we can do it - or are allowed."

You are wrong. Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 has mods/maps/mutators. Do research before you comment and make yourself look like an ass.

+1. It can be done, and Howard said that, using Xbox as an example, it is rather simple to bring mods over--the problem is a matter of making sure that the information sharing is secure.

Look up that one yourselves.

Honestly, it will be impossible to bring TES mods to the console.

How do you reconcile problems like scrip extenders, mod managers and all these other 3rd party programs that are absolutely essential in using more than one mod together?

Elder Scrolls isn't Unreal Tournament completely different companies

That doesn't change the fact that it's possible to have mods on a console when Epic games has proven it is very possible. If they can do it, other companies can.

That's not quite what matters, good sir.

Unreal Tournament 3 mods are considerably less invasive that Elder Scrolls mods.

the only thing that matters is what Microsoft will let them do, Bethesda wanted to put mods on Xbox live when Oblivion was coming out, it never happened it won't happen with Skyrim either
