Has Oblivion ever affected you in real life?

I rarely feel bad about the terrible things I have to do in the game. It's my character that does the deed that has to carry the guilt.
However:

1. When Lucien Lachance was killed for doing his duty, I thought that it was a bit sad. So I turned Arquen's essential status off and sent her to Sithis.
2. When that Dunmer guy who had his house taken by Ulrich Leland gets killed. After everything he went through too...that was pretty sad.
3. That fighter's guild quest where you have to kill the 'goblins' undercover. Seeing the father of the woman I helped mourn was pretty sad.
4. Molag Bal's quest was just wrong.
5. The 'Caught in the Hunt' quest. Going through all that just to see the poor guy get killed by the orc? Oh no, I don't think so.

However, this doesn't stop me doing the sad quests. What stops me doing them is whether the character I'm playing right then would do said quest.

I don't do all of the quests because my character doesn't do evil things. On the Hunt quest, I look at the big picture though. There were a lot of bones throughout that fort. Yes, it's very sad that the man is killed at the end but the good part is that the hunters are gone and the guy that ran the hunt is history. No more hunts on innocent people. :)

And on the original topic again, yes yes yes. I just had to go to Bruma to find out why Traven hasn't been hearing from Jeanne at the Mages Guild. :( And poor formerly invisible J'skaar tells such a horrifying story.

Well not a game, but if a show counts then yes.

Familiar with the show FullMetal Alchemist?

[SPOILER]

Well I was watching it one night, and the episode where Maes Hughes is shot and killed, I immediately turned off the TV and stopped watching, I'm just now starting to finish it because it came on netflix instant.

One of the only things that have affected me, that I really don't like doing is killing the Grey Prince, since he's such a genuinely nice person even though he kills people for a living. And, of course, the Purification. Only because of the Khajiit though... He just started to like me. I really didn't want to kill him, and I was very sad when I did. I wish I was given the choice to kill the Lucien bastard instead!

Spoiler
When Lucien Lachance died I pretty much started crying. Arrrgh, that's probably the worst part of any quest anywhere EVER! Why, why, why, why, why?! Lucien Lachance is just so awesome, he did not deserve to die. :( It just svcks so bad. And the Purification made me feel awful and horrible and ugh.

As to affecting me in real life, whenever I see a basket or a crate I get the impulse to check if there's any gold inside. And when I see these decorative swords my friend has at her house, I immediatly get the impulse to grab one and go cave diving. And I bought a plant just the other day because it looks exactly like a Nirnroot! I burst out laughing at the store and everyone looked at me kinda funny.

A beggar came once asking me for a coin, i instinctively heard 'he wants a gold coin'.

I ended up asking him about the Grey Fox, while he left with a troubled look.

Spoiler
When I find that the Black Hand has tracked down and brutally murdered Lucien, I feel horrible.

Even that night I could not sleep because of thinking about it.

Oh, and sometimes in the real world I think that I really can sneak and archery as well as my oblivion character (yeah, I know it's stupid)

Every now and then I think, "Wow that guys head would crush so easily if I had a warhammer." Then I stop and think, "Wow, I need to stop playing." Then I usually go play Oblivion.

I was about to have a school fight with a little ****. Well not really little, more like a freakin Ogre or a Super Mutant. Right before the fight, he said to me, "Are you gonna run you [censored]?"

I just finished a huge session in Oblivion the night before and I was still having Oblivion thoughts and without me even being able to stop myself, I just blurted out, "By Sithis just [censored] attack! You slimy Argonian!"

Everybody was like WTF. To make things short, the guy got pwned by an Oblivion player. XD

2 days ago, I thought Oblivion was just a fun game to play, and when i saved and quit i wouldn't care about it in real life. However I did a quest in the Shivering Isles where a certain person in dementia wants to be killed by you. Of course I did it when he was standing on the top of the stairs. Fine and dandy, just a little NPC, but when i went for the reward his Will was there and I read it, god I couldn't feel more sad and depressed for taking his life :'( even if he did want me to, only time ever i've felt like that over a game, what about you guys? You ever done something in Oblivion thats made u feel bad irl... although it sounds crazy.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

I felt bad at the start of the Next of Kin quest, mainly because Perennia seems like such a kind woman who just loves her kids and wants them to be happy. Also, I feel bad for Jake, who, after Perennia is dead, is all alone in the world, and stuck inside a remote farmhouse with nothing to eat (Perennia died outside, so he can't even eat her) or drink, and no way out (due to his lack of opposable thumbs, I presume). I'm a bit of a svcker for animals, I'll admit it (for example, I'm not bothered in the least when, in a movie, a whole bunch of people die, but if they kill the dog, i get quite upset), but still.... Related to that, i got exceptionally attached to Dogmeat in Fallout 3, and had to leave him at the vault a lot because I'd get so upset if he died.

Well this affected me for the better, but now me and my friends tend to greet each other with classic Guard lines such as...
"You're the Gray Fox!"
"We're here to serve."
"Problem, Citizen?"

And the oh so classic,
"Stop right there criminal scum!"

Because, we are that awesome.
