Oblivion is without a doubt, the best game ever. Agree?

So don't...
... go off topic

The topic of the thread is if Oblivion is the best game ever and I said no. I further stated what my favourite game is, thus showing what my personal criteria for a "best game ever" would be.

If the topic is about Oblivion being "the best game ever" and you say it's GTA4 and i say GTA4 isn't better than GTA San Andreas, then why are you on topic and i'm not?

Ps you know what i'm talking about if you didn't changed your comment

And soon everyone will say that Oblivion was better, more immersive, had more content etc etc. Trust me on this one

I never said you were off topic. I knew that if I had responded by saying something like GTA 4 is better than San Andreas, then it would have escalated and turned into an off topic debate. Instead now we're having a debate about off topic debates.

I voted for everything except graphics and skybox. While OB does look nice, other games look nicer, without the huge hit to performance that Oblivion has.

It's a very good game, but I wouldn't say its the best. GTA IV is still my favourite game ever and, at least in my opinion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas does everything in this poll slightly better except maybe the diversity in the map. Coming out of the Fallout's and into Oblivion all of the varying locations is what impressed me the most. I realize that this can be a volatile thing to say in the Oblivion forum, but I'm a Vault boy at heart.

I am an FO fan. FO3 does indeed do most things better than OB. That is because Bethesda took what they learned in Oblivion and applied it to FO3, especially with the graphics and game engine. But also with improvements to character leveling, enemy and loot scaling, etc.... OTOH, I find the dull brown expanse of the Wasteland gets monotonous after a while, and always find myself yearning for the green fields of Cyrodiil once more. Likewise, I like how Oblivion gives us a diverse set of races to play, each with their own unique appearances and abilities, where in FO3 you can just pick from human, human, human, or if you don't like those three: human. That, and the presence of things like birthsigns, spells, etc... creates much more replayability in Oblivion for me.

I do know that the reason why Fallout 3 and New Vegas are so amazing is largely because of what was learned from Oblivion. I personally love the bleakness of the Capital and Mojave Wastelands because they perfectly evoke a specific feeling of emptiness which I have never felt in any other game. I do like the choice in species you have in Oblivion, but I love the overall choice you have in every single moment of Fallout even more.

I guess its just different games for different people.

Diversity? Oblivion was big alright but there wasn't much diversity. Same voices, (ugly) faces, bodies, environments, weapons, armours etc. everywhere. :sadvaultboy:

That's why Morrowind was better

Ignoring the fact that I have gotten a little tired of Oblivion after playing it for 4 years? Yes, it is indeed the nr. 1 game for me out there. And it will be like that for another 10 days. Then it sadly have to give that title to Skyrim.

That is a serious request. In order for Oblivion to come out on top it would have to conquer these other two games:

It's certainly my favorite game of all time. I bought it over 4 years ago when it was released for the PS3, and I'm still playing it now (on the PC, though). Without mods, it's an amazing game, with mods, it's... beyond words.

Graphically, it blew me away when I first got it, nowadays, not so much. Distant LOD looks horrible, to be honest, and the character models are downright ugly, but I've gotten used to it by now. And there are other glaring flaws, like the rampant level scaling, somewhat bland environments, lack of voice actors, inefficient UI, and poor optimization, but even with all that going against it, no game comes close to it in my eyes. Besides, most of that can be rectified with mods.

Skyrim may just change all that, though.

But, see, mods fixed the worst problems. Don't like Cyrodiil to level with you? http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/search.php will spawn whatever you want. Graphics not worthy of your Skynet 2.0 mainframe? http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30054 it to your heart's content. Want to see new kinds of monsters and enemy actors? http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34673 or http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14442. Hentai Gentlemen's EyeCandy and Eyecandy Variants will let you decide what bodies and clothes your npcs will use, and the size of their tatas. There are mods that will address almost anything wrong with Oblivion that you can think of.

One exception, cookie-cutter dungeons, would be sidestepped by selecting some dungeon mods. I've seen a 10 pack dungeon mod that adds them to the area NE of Leyawin, by Arthmoor iirc.

But on Xbox or PS3 you locked out of this right, and you are screwed if a bug destroys your quest. TES fans have lent their skills to grant excellent Morrowind and Oblivion mods for pc, and I'm disposed to believe they will continue this kind of loyalty with Skyrim.

Tough thread - the OP writes it as a question but never gives an opportunity in the poll to disagree

These threads never end well in trying to compare games, I liked Oblivion but my addiction was modding Morrowind - that's not to say I thought Morrowind was the best game ever - one of the most addicting games for me.

There are lots of great things about Oblivion however I'm pretty hyped for Skyrim which I hope will blend together all the best parts of the Scrolls series so far.

The TES series is certainly in my top 3 of favorite game series.

I'm not sure if I'd call the best game ever, but it's definitely up there.

Favourites things about Oblivion are definitely the scale of the map and the sheer amount of things that can be done. Which leads to a stupid amount of playing time.

I still remember the first time I left the first dungeon of the game. Only RPGs I'd ever played until then were JRPGs. I was expecting one of their typical overworlds... Was I ever shocked when I saw what Oblivion had in store for me.

Lots of Fallout fans here, including me!

I love Oblivion. I have to say, it is my second favorite rpg ever, with FF7 being first. After all these years, I still love this game. I can't get enough of it.
