Verifying Integrity of Game Cache for FNV constantly reports

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 4:53 pm

After some mention of checking integrity of game files I thought I'd give it a shot (I'm experiencing the reload/unresponsive bug http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?showtopic=1138327 and http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?showtopic=1140022)

Sure enough it does say that "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" however:

A) this doesn't fix the issue in game

B) if i repeat the check it says the same thing again - so I'm uncertain if steam is not updating this file properly (maybe that's where this bug came from)

Does anyone know if there's a log file that steam keeps from attempting verifying of caches? I'd really like to try and see if there's a problem with this particular file, maybe delete it and check again.

Kinda weird that it keeps erroring...

For me it's InstallScript.vdf

It's the first-run setup script that STEAM runs. for NV it installs Visual C and DirectX.

Why It doesnt verify? who knows, but it common for this file in other games to not verify.

I'm gonna try deleting all the files in the root NV directory now, see if redownloading them all fixes it ?_?

It's a non-issue meaning it doesnt affect if the game works or not.

Just leave it alone, just about everyone gets that error.

I had the same thing but after replacing that file the game is playable again. From constant freezes and crashes to pretty stable.
