From what I've read in the UESP about races the Nords are from Skyrim originally so I think that's what the reference is from....I could be wrong though, would'nt be the first time!

Yup, that's always been in the game. Nords are often referred to as Children of the Sky or Children of Skyrim in lore. The greeting you describe is one that a Nord in the game will likely hear sometimes, depending somewhat on personality of your character and disposition of the speaker.

"What do you want tree hugger"

My character (bosmer) is a lovely nice lady, and is fed up with meeting so many arrogant people who think their better then everyone. A bit off topic, but it kinda relates to the Nord statement.

Some of the NPC greetings can be really funny. I've had "you have the hands of a healer" and "you're a sneaky looking sort" before :lmao:

Yea, it's a racial greeting. Don't know if it happens in Oblivion (can't remember) but their are racial combat taunts in Morrowind. The Nords would be called snowman.

Yes, there are many racial comments made by other NPCs.
I get ones for Conjuration all of the time from people, especially in Chorrol for some reason.

I was kind of surprised when another Khajiit greeted mine with "It has no master?"

"It's scent is unfamiliar"

Also I just noticed with the newest update that
Spoiler
Rugdumph can be KILLED, not just knocked out.
It's weird...

I guess it is the one relating to your Conjuration skill, something like "You smell of death. Been summoning too much lately?' or something along the lines.... You must have Conj above 75 or sth....

I know. All my character′s skills are above 75, most at 100 but I′ve heard there′s a glitch if you have many skills maxed out.

What I want to know is how they can tell you've got a high Conjouration skill? I can understand being strong (muscles) or fast (Looking fit) but how can you tell if someones a master at summoning hellish creatures into the world?

i'd be worried that they would mix up conjuration with necromancy :D

I was wandering around the Jerell mountains and passed by an NPC who said:
"The new game looks good. Are you heading North?"

well, u r to assume that any higher skill proficiency somehow reflects upon u, so a Conjuror would have meddled so much with summoning that 'something' in his looks or gesture would indicate that.

i didnt know about the glitch, as i never max out many skills.

Skyrim already existed in Oblivion, so it's not really a reference to TES V
