So did Oblivion Realm Have Much Else?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:45 am

Ok, so I hated the oblivion planes, mostly because they freaked me out. I couldn't stand daedra and trying to survive there.

So I only entered when I had to. The thing is, i'm wondering if I missed out on anything, was there much else in these realms other then sigil stones? Any quests or anything interesting?

I share the same feelings, and my character actually has no rp motivation to go there.

You can find some powerful items there, and in some gates, u can find some really unique items:

Actually, I enjoy the environment of the realms of Oblivion. Don't know why, but probably because I'm Invisible, so no daedra to see me.

You won't miss much though, unless you're an Alchemist, in dire need of 2 handed ebony-glass-daedric weapons, or an archer.

Am I the only one who liked these gates...

I always entered one on my Breton battlemage when I saw one and I probably closed a good half of them before finishing the main quest.

I believe most people enjoyed it too.

For me, it was too disturbing , very =/= from the TES realm really. the athmopsphere and creatures reminded me of that movie "The Myst" with the actor from Punisher, those spiders and insect-like beasts. I hate that kind of environment, which probably means TES did a good job.

Actually, the only reason my SA may venture in is to advance some quest or to acquire that bow and arrows.

I kinda enjoy the "different" feel on the other side of the Ob-gates,the new creatures and plants are exciting to deal with...and the unusual weapons/armor make it worth doing for me. Now the Shivering Isles are freaky....... :bolt:

I usually closed them immediately upon discovery. Al though I did save some for later on so I could get the most powerful versions of the sigil stones.

I found them obnoxious because they were EVERYWHERE, as well as almost every new area discovered having a new monstrosity that wants to eat my face. Just so obnoxious.

At least two of the Shrine quests took place in Oblivion. I didn't really like Oblivion that much. There aren't many variations in the Oblivion maps, so in order to get through them as quickly as possible I would concentrate on raising my Illusion skill until I could run through the level while invisible.

whenever i encounter one now i just enter and run to the top of the sigil tower as fast as i can and grab the stone just so the gate closes. i could NOT be bothered to fight any more of those monsters, especially at level 35

Yea, they freaked me out the first time I entered a few of them, but after awhile (and a different character) it became rather addicting, going into those gates and closing them. You didn't miss much though. I think there's like 7 different "worlds", which are more or less generic copies of one another.

Basically, if you've closed one gate, you've closed 'em all. The only difference is some Oblivion areas are tougher to navigate than others, and the Sigil stones themselves vary quite a bit in their magical effects.

My first character who attempted the MQ (Renee Gade I) hated them. Igodah Go^Pe and my male wizard character both got more into the spirit of tackling them, mostly because their egos got a little bigger with every gate which got closed. Matter of fact, after The Grey Wizard finished up the Main Quest, he actually started to miss having gates open up all over the place. The Grey Wizard is currently bored, with little to do, matter of fact.

Right, too powerful, nothing really left to do (he's also the Arch Mage). :sadvaultboy: He's too arrogant to follow Umbacano's demands, which is really the only thing left he could possibly perform in his narrow-minded world. Every fight he gets into he just blows the enemy away, and that's with my self-imposed tabletop gaming rules. :) He misses the Oblivion gates. :obliviongate: But ...what can ya do?

That's why I created Lady Saga, of course, to finish up stuff that's been left behind. But..let's not get off-topic shall we not, Renee? No we shall not

Oblivion gates can be very entertaining once you have decent speed and athletics. Run through them all the way to the sigil stone. Don't stop to fight an enemy jerk, there will only be another one after them. Paralyze the fast ones and let them eat your dust. You will take damage from those that try to cheap shot you or get in your way, but this is only opportunity to level your healing spells or use heal over time potions you've made. Knock them out of your way and continue. The only time you should stop is to pull a lever that will open the way. At the Sigillum Sanguines, the final part of the tower, ignore the guards and grab the Sigil Stone. Then run off that ledge to the floor below to trigger your transportation back to Tamriel.
