Do SPECIAL boosting implants count towards perk and/or weapo

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:20 pm

I have yet to find a concrete answer on this. According to a post on gamefaqs the INT implant does not give skill points on level-up, this suggest implants work like chems/food/clothing, which means they probably WILL help meet equipment checks, but WILL NOT help meet perk checks.

Anyone have first hand experience with this?

Good to know I'm not the only one who wants an answer to this one. :D

All I know is that Luck makes you get like 40 Blackjacks in a row and gets you kicked out of the casino.

The implants provide effects, not real stat changes. So yes, perks, skill points etc. would be unaffected by that. Weapon requirements on the other hand should work with them.

Is this confirmed, Red? Do they at least give the appropriate skill bonuses?

I was hoping to use an implant to grab the 6 Perception needed for sniper...

Also, the glasses trait that gives you -1 perception without glasses, and +2 perception with glasses.

If you pick that you will need to set your perception to SEVEN to pick a perk that requires Six perception.

Man I am SO glad I decided to get an answer to this before restarting. There are going to be A LOT of people either restarting or tagging intense training multiple times, almost every build I've see posted on gamefaqs is relying on implants to meet perk checks. :D

So, are people speaking from experience? Has this been tested in-game?

I can not confirm it currently since I don't have a save ready with access to the implant place, but the GECK says that the implants count as effects. Thus they would not work for the perk requirements. If someone could check this, they should do so. ^_^

Thank you, Red, good enough for me.

Implants do allow you to pass perk checks. I bought Str and End implants to raise both stats from 5 to 6 and I could pick the Stonewall perk (which requires Str 6 and End 6)
