Worried how fallout will turn out

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:26 pm

I never said there writing was rubish guys. To be honest I think I am just bored of the swords and magic RP. Skyrim is an amazing world but I just dont seem to be addicted to it like I was oblivion and FO3,NV then again it could be I am just growing out of games :(

First off Hello Styles "You have no idea who I am lol, but umm about a year ago we talked a lot about FO:NV development and ideas, anyways I remember you" now that I have come off sounding like a perv I will get to my point.. .....

The Elder Scrolls Series is a serious RP genre, they provide you with a massive world where you start off with nothing and making you way up to be a hero of sorts, you can't be the bad ass who rules the world, because it's not real enough. Fallout on the other hand is a fun open world playhouse, it has the dark elements of a Apocalypse mixed in with the funny, stupid and downright politically incorrect flavors or fallout. Again you start out as nothing and well work you way up to be Jesus Christ , Satan or everything in between.

To sum up - Fallout - Fun and quirky with stereotypical one liners
Elder Scrolls - Serious medieval rp with magic and a hint of quirkiness

Wait what?
Elder Scrolls? Roleplay?
Fallout? Fun open world playhouse with a mix of dark elements of apocalypse?
Working your way up to become a god?

None of this makes sense to me.

Must be.

Apart from Mothership Zeta, Old World Blues, Wild Wasteland and parts of Fallout 2 I never saw Fallout as a "fun open world playhouse".
It had it's humor but I wouldn't summarize Fallout overall as "fun and quirky with stereotypical one liners".

As for Elder Scrolls, it's a lot more serious, but it's RP mechanics have failed to impress me over and over.
From dialogue to quest choices to character builds to action and consequence. (Maybe I need to play Morrowind more and play Arena and Daggerfall at some point)

Then we have the overpowered bit.
It's very possible to become overpowered in each and everyone of these games.
Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim.
Each and everyone has the option to become a demi-god.
Fallout 3 had a form of balance prior to Broken Steel and New Vegas had as well prior to it's DLC's.
So I'd say that it's DLC's that will ruin balance from now on and make us overpowered, not the actual games themselves.
Will likely happen to Skyrim as well.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were easier to level up in and with the DLC's easier to become a demi-god.
But it doesn't mean that you aren't working your way up to become just that in Elder Scrolls, cause you are, it's only taking way longer to get there.

When I played Dagerfall, Morrowind, Oblivian and Skyrim I try to put my self into the shoes of my avatar. But when I play Fallout I just go nuts, my decisions are not rational, though I have played it thought many times, playing it slightly differently. With the Elders Scrolls I can imagine that's what our past could of been, it's believable. Especially Skyrim! Fallout, not so much I like to just let my hair down (Well, I would if I did not have short hair)

Anyways I still probably sound crazy ;)

Oh Skyrim's writing is Bethesda's best work to date, I have never really felt so engaged in the game, I'm not the puppeteer anymore but the puppet with no strings attached.

I just hope the Enclave come back with a deep and compelling story arch that you can join!

Word. You should read my speculative Enclave timeline.

And Skyrim is good as long as they fix the stuttering and lag on ps3. If they do how bout fixing it in NV, too.

I'm not at all worried about how fallout will turn out because I really enjoyed both Fallout 3 and New Vegas and I don't see how it can be messed up for the next game.
