Changing Installation Pathway

Post » Tue Sep 29, 2009 4:27 pm

I've been trying to install Morrowind, but have been running into troubles with the installation process. After accepting the licensing terms and agreements, at the Start Copying Files point, it has the G: drive selected, which does not exist on my computer, continuing the installation process results in some error message mentioning catastrophic failure. It says to review or change settings to go back, but that only brings me to information and the licensing agreement. How do I change the driver its installing to to one that actually exists? My computer is running windows seven if that is relevant. I apologize for my general lack of computer skills, and I did look around for a solution, but non seemed particularly relevant to my problem. Suggestions or help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like there is path left in the registry; have you installed it before on this computer?. Anyway, you'll need to delete or change the path with regedit. I can't remember what the file is named but if you look around, it's pretty obvious.

edit: it's wow6432 node/Bethesda softworks.

I looked around a bit and did not manage to find anything related to wow6432 node/Bethesda softworks. I also could possibly looking in the wrong places. At any rate morrowind has never been directly installed on this computer before. I had installed it onto a flash drive and was playing it from there on this computer (I have no idea why I decided to do this, but it seemed like a good idea at the time).

Ah...the computer probably assigned the flash drive to G and that was registered as the default path. Look again with regedit, it's in there for sure.

Yep, you were right! Deleted it with regedit. Thank you very much for the help, now I can play Morrowind again! Many thanks
