Most Dangerous?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:28 am

Im sure there are more of us out there - us poor people who can't find the time to start a new game and are "stuck" with Oblivion whilst watching everyone else enjoying Skyrim :/.
For purpose of distraction, I have decided to create a toll for a question which has always interested me:

Which CREATUERE from Oblivion do you find scariest?
NOTE: By scariest, I mean horror movie scary, not scary in the sense of "afraid to fight against".

For me, the choice would be between Spider Daedra and the Land Dreugh. Things that don't have fur and walk on more than 2 feet are weird :/

Really, it has to be the Xivilai.

They are so big and scary, they summon other scary creatures, and they carry Battle Axes. Scary.

Spider Daedra. Especially if I think too much about how they might have come to be.

Spider Deadra. I have arachnophobia, so I really don't like these things. I refuse to avoid them, though.

Spider Daedra again. I have arachnophobia too, but they don't really bother me (unlike the ones in Skyrim, which do), because with the elf girl part stuck on top, they don't really look like spiders to me. Still, of all the ones you put in the poll, they are the grossest, ickiest, and creepiest.

I also chose Spider Daedra, but some of the creepiest moments in the game is when I'm in a dungeon and I can just hear a Wraith breathing from somewhere. I now officially never go underground without my Grand Ring of Detect Life.

heh heh, no will o'the wisps, huh? I wouldn't vote for it (they don't scare so much as they annoy me) but that should be up on the poll.

I voted for wraith, those things freak me out with their weird sound effects and whatnot. They're just creepy. Lich would be a close 2nd place.

Spriggan = too happy/giggly

Minotaurs = too dumb to really scare me. Too dumb and too slow.

Land dreughs also are just slow.

"daedra" is too general. Some of them freak me out, others don't bother me much.

I HATE clanfear with a passion, but they don't scare me. I can always hear them before they're even seen, ya know?

I'm actually not afraid of spiders. :nono: Centipedes, on the other hand? yiich! :yuck: But we don't have those in the game.

Indeed, there′s something about that kind of hybrids. It′s the same in Doom 3 where your commanding sergeant is turned into some sort of tank while keeping his upper body :yucky:
I don′t have arachnophobia but Spider Daedra is a chilling creation

Liches. I don't like their clanky walk, I don't like their undead servants, and I don't like the fact that I've only ever faced them on my mage character, who was born under the sign of the Apprentice, and therefore pwned by them, which scared me because that character was RIDICULOUSLY overpowered with Invisibility...hell, the first death on my mage was a Reflected spell from the King of Miscarcand that one-shotted me.

The most horror movie scary for me are the Dread Zombies. Those lurching cadavars with their steamy funk.
Luckily, easy to dispatch but I try to keep my distance. :flamethrower:

Spider daedra are creepy...it's the walk and the fact there are too many legs. I HATE spiders or anything spider related.

Flesh atronachs from the Shivering Isles also weird me out. It's the whole sewn-flesh thing makes me ill

I also hate being in dungeons or the Oblivion plain and i am sneaking around and all i can hear is creepy heavy breathing from a wraith or Xivali or something.

Guys, read the note :P! Are you honestly telling me that your scared of a floating cloud of..smoke?? Yes, they are tough, but not scary! BTW, anyone else who isn't playing Skyrim yet? Im really hoping Im not alone here :/
The reason I put Spriggans up is, yes they are "giggly" in comparison to the others, but the first time I saw their hands I freaked out.
Minotaurs I find scary, not in the sense of creepy, but in the sense that they are these huge, massive things which make you run far away.

I was gonna say. Wills are pretty. They may be pretty dangerous, but pretty nonetheless.

No Skyrim here. I'm giving all the unpaid beta playtesters at least a year or more to sort it all out (like any new game). Nothing against it, but I'm in no hurry either.

Yeah, seeing a huge minotaur run at you for the first time is terrifying.

I just find Spider Daedra's annoying to fight with their little minions and their paralyzing attacks.

The first few times definitely, but now whenever I see a Minotaur charge at me I just see a nice hammer I can sell and a nearly free horn.

What level are you at, and what is your build? I've never gotten beyond the Minotaurs are scary stage x)

Currently I'm at about level 24 and my build is mainly combat. This is my first playthrough of Oblivion si I decided to read the section of UESP where it gives tips on new players. The one major thing took to heart is to max out my Endurance as soon as possible to get as much HP as possible. I have the GOTY edition so I have Frostcrag Spire which means I can enchant my own weapons without needing the Arcane University. One thing UESP also suggested is the best way to setup elemental abilities on weapons. My main weapon is a Daedric Longsword that I enchanted with 20 lightning damage and 100% weakness to lightning damage for 2 seconds. This doubles the lightning damage of every subsequent hit. Another really good weapon it suggested is one enchanted with absorb 10 HP, absorb 10 Magicka and absorb 10 Fatigue, all of this makes you nearly indestructible.

A little background.. I play dead-is-dead, OOO, and a few other mods to increase the difficulty. I have not yet won the game.

The scariest creature by far - so much that I have dreams about it - is the mountain lion. They are just brutally fast and can 3-shot most of my characters. And they look [censored] exactly like deer from a distance. I've come to know pretty intimately where they don't spawn. I've learned they will not cross water. I've learned that they go down with a potion of paralysis and a meteoric weapon to the face. But absent any of these, every step is terrifying.
